"One of my interior door had a huge hole in it and it needed patching. The work was done with excellent attention to detail. It looked like a brand-new door at the end. He even fixed the sloppy paint job that a previous contractor had done. He was very patient and hard-working. I never felt like he was rushing to get the job done. I was very impressed by his work. "We recently hired RP Renovations to work on three big projects on our house: paint entire interior 2 floors (including ceiling, 11 rooms and 22 feet high hall, all wood trims. All with different colors), entire exterior (including replacing rotten face boards and fixing rotten window frames), and replaced the deck floor with composite material. They did a great job. The estimation was very reasonable. Everything was done within 2-3 weeks of time. They strictly followed the contract as is. Therefore you want to make sure all items that you want them to do are listed as detail as possible on the contract. The owner Julio came to supervise the work on daily basis. We could reach him at all times to discuss issues and add-ons. The workers and subcontractors showed up on time (normally around 8:30AM but occasionally 7:30AM, including Saturdays). Painters (Jorge, Selvin, and Melvyn) did a very clean job by covering all areas and removing and cleaning afterwards). They are very skillful and efficient. In terms of painting, to achieve a better result, I suggest that you cleanup and prepare wood trims and windows' frames by yourself beforehand, since thorough cleaning and preparation was not part of the contract (at least it was not in mine). In terms of replacing deck floor, one person demolished the entire deck floor (12’ x 24’) within half of a day and the other person added extra support underneath and then added new composite deck boards within a day. Sorry that we did not get their names but we really liked their efficient work. After all the above three big projects were done, we liked the results and liked their people. Therefore, we asked them to replace all appliances in our kitchen and added back-splash besides counter-top as well as under-lights for the cabinets. There was quite some work that needed to be done in order to add an Island Hood, and fit the new wall oven and microwave. Jose did a great job in getting all done. Overall, I think RP Renovation is a very efficient and reliable company. We definitely will hire them again for our future projects. We would not hesitate to recommend RP Renovations to our friends anytime in the future. As a matter of fact, our neighbors had knocked on our door asking about RP Renovations’ contact info since they had seen how good the results were."

The services performed were: demo kitchen, remove old hardwoods and carpeting throughout the main level, drywall patch/repair and prep for painting, remove old light fixtures, remove handrails, newel posts and spindles and prep stairs for new hardwood, paint ceilings, walls, doors and trim throughout the main level and into the upstairs hallway, install prefinished solid hardwood throughout the main level and up the stairs and throughout the upstairs hallway, install new, custom stain-matched handrails, newel posts and spindles, install new light fixtures (to include recessed lights, ceiling fans, foyer and kitchen lights), add a wall and install custom reclaimed wood floating shelves, install new quartz countertops, solid wood cabinetry, farmhouse sink, faucet, appliances, custom wood range chimney, and ventilator (to include installation of new outside ducting). We would not hesitate to hire Best Homes again. Jonathan was never more than a phone call, email or text away. He was prompt and eager to resolve any issues or answer our MANY questions. The daily crew were on time every day and were exceedingly polite, knowledgeable, respectful and eager to perform high-quality workmanship. All change orders were met with enthusiasm and prompt quotes. The work was completed within the estimated timeframe. Our satisfaction with every aspect of the job was a top priority for everyone. "We had our roof for our DC rowhouse replaced in 2013 by a different company, but within seven years a number of the shingles had fallen off and we had leaks near our skylight and water pouring down our front porch. I called the original roofer and they wanted to charge me $3600 for the repairs, which I felt that I shouldn't have had to pay given that the roof was seven years old. I then called August Roofing and they charged me $2500 to replace the missing shingles, seal and paint the vents, tighten the flashings, and clean and tighten the gutters. They came quickly and did the work fast and were responsive to my texts and questions. "Home Advisor rating system has a limitation on how to choose the projects, so let me recap here in detail. I found John Betz & Son (Silver Spring MD) through Home Advisor. After several calls to other recommendations, John (himself) was the only one to answer his phone, pull over (he was driving), talk me through all the handyman work I thought I needed (the list grew!), get my information, and set up an appt (all on the side of the road). For our initial walk-thru, he showed up not on time, but Early! He confirmed the type of work I needed, from my other experience with a previous walk-thru. We set up a date/time for the first priority job because it had a deadline -- he showed up early for that appt, and he and son did an excellent job fixing rotting exterior front door wood, and painting (and painted more than was requested too, to make it look seamless!). The other jobs were not an emergency, so we set up 2 days the following week. He again showed up early with his son on BOTH days. They worked all day, both days, on the following: caulking exterior windows, pediments, garage door (and checking exterior for any leaking); re-hanging & securing a shutter; replacing an exterior keypad for my garage door opener and setting up the coding system; replacing/repairing drywall in the garage; fixing kitchen sink (repaired garbage disposal and replaced piping/drainage repair for other sink); replaced a ceramic tile in dining room (and matched grout so perfectly I couldn't tell which tile had been replaced afterwards!); drilled and installed new locks on a living room window; MADE and installed 2 screens for living room windows; repaired threshold wood strip in basement that runs between carpet and tile floor; AND THEN, he checked a vent return that makes periodic noise, and checked behind insulation to be sure no mold/damage was present -- those were no charge :-). John gives a full electronic estimate for his work before it begins, accepts major credit cards (if really necessary), and sends an electronic receipt. During this time, I was able to talk with John and get all my handyman fears put to rest, as he is an expert, and can do work from top to bottom of your house (not just handyman work). I highly recommend John Betz & Son -- my experience was 5-star!!"

Jorge came and took measurements for the work that needed to be done and talked me through my options given my intentions for the home (repairing to sell). I had some creative drywall issues above our shower that he cleverly resolved and included in his quote for painting. They did such a great job with the repairs and painting I hired them again for flooring and carpeting without getting other quotes because they were again very fairly priced.
