"tl;dr: We like these folks. Lots. So this is a long story... it started when our 30+-year-old master bath shower started leaking worse (it had been dripping from the shower head for years). I looked on YouTube to see how hard it would be to replace the hardware for this model. Easy! Oh, unless you apply the torque wrong. Then you could end up breaking the copper pipes. So donâ t do that. Sorry, not taking the chance! So I hire a plumber I had used before (NOT HRPofCP!) who proceeds to apply the torque wrong and breaks the pipes. Then charges me to cap them. Great. So my wife and I decide this would be a good opportunity to replace the entire shower (a slide-in unit that has also had drain problems resulting in water into the ceiling below) and the master bath dual sinks (also with faucets dripping, and the plumber couldnâ t fix them either) and the metalwork was corroded. HRPofCP comes in with a bid of $9,398 â not the lowest, but they do hand-crafted showers instead of modular, so a better value. Then Bill (the estimator) calls us as excited as a kid, because he found this deal where we can get granite counters for the sinks for the price of formica, so long as we like one of the two colors. We do. Great! Work is scheduled, deposit made. So of course the day the guys (Joe and Alex) show up is one of the worst snow storms of the season. They get started, but have to quit early because they donâ t want to die trying to get home. Other problems: the mirror over the sinks has clips that hold it upâ ¦ only the clips are for show, the mirror is actually sealed onto the wall. So the new counter canâ t be any higher than the old one. Fine. Then some goofball also sealed the edge around the drain on the old shower (oops, that was me, trying to contain previous shower problems), so that took extra work. Then the old shower was not supported properly (which might have caused leakage around the old drain, maybe?), so the guys had to mix up mortar to support the new shower base and let that set. Then the studs around the shower were just a little bit non-standard, so the first attempt at tiling resulted in great-looking tiles that didnâ t match evenly with the wall (they had to pull the tiles, add shims, and do it again). Then the new sinks were sunk UNDER the counter, while the old ones sat on the top edge and were not as deep, so now the sink drains didnâ t align with the drain pipes, which could be fixed by moving the counter up a bitâ ¦ oh wait, that mirror problem. Okay, so the guys constructed their own piping hack and got THAT working. So there was a whole bunch of extra labor, extra parts, extra effort, and when the final bill came in it was forâ ¦ $9,398 total. Because that was the price they promised. Oh, and the shower and sinks look awesome! And when there was leakage a few days after they finished, Joe and Alex came out the morning after I reported the problem (a Saturday!) and fixed it in a couple hours, under warranty. Which counts for a LOT, because I donâ t expect things to always be perfect, but I appreciate when someone makes a correction promptly and with no hassle. We plan to use HRPofCP again. How could we not?"
