"Top quality, meticulous work that takes no short-cuts but is achieved efficiently. They are truly the best!!! In addition to the contracted work (on a Friday afternoon during a Holiday weekend!) Luis and Manuel stayed to test and solve a big water intrusion problem before more rain arrived. The pricing is great, the best materials are used, and they bring experience and excellent problem-solving to your situation. In addition they are considerate and kind. I could not recommend them highly enough!!!"

Repairs, Custom Staining, Hardwood Flooring Installation , and 1 more
"If you are searching for someone to do repair or refinish your hardwood floors, you have found him: Nicolas Pierattini, Pierattini Hardwood Floors. A previous flooring contractor installed white oak hardwood throughout our newly remodeled home. Unfortunately, both the sanding and staining were uneven and the new floors were a disaster. They would have to be redone. After reading reviews, I contacted Nicolas. He came to have a look at the end of his work day, and explained what needed to be done. He assured me that the floors could be repaired and would look amazing with correct sanding and staining. He provided a fair estimate and a time frame, and fit our job into his schedule. The finished floors do, indeed, look amazing. During the course of the job, Nicolas readily answered our questions, kept us updated on his progress, and was helpful in our search for a new grate for the floor vent. He also did an excellent job matching the red oak thresholds to the white oak floors. He started and finished as per his proposal, and cleaned all of the surfaces when the floors were finished. We were very pleased with his work and his attention to detail. We look forward to having him return to sand and stain our deck."

"Johnny Cipressi, the owner of Harmony Hardwoods, is a true pro and craftsman. About half my 2,000 square foot ranch house was solid red oak and the other half was carpet. Harmony Hardwoods replaced the carpet with matching hardwood and refinished the existing hardwood. The installation ran into a variety of unforseeable hurdles created by the original wood installation. Johnny navigated these with grace, skill and artistry. These hurdles of course effected the schedule but he persevered through the Christmas holidays and finished as rapidly as possible. He was very reliable. The price reflected his skill and professionalism. I recommend him highly."

"Mark and his partner set up a tile cutter on our patio. They removed our old bathtub and precisely cut the tiles for our beautiful walk-in shower. These were scalloped tiles and difficult to cut. The corners are perfectly matched up. Mark is pleasant to work with and always on time. Any delays or difficulties were explained well in advance. The price was good, too. I'm sorry we don't have another bathroom to remodel."

Tile
"Gavin was punctual, tidy, pleasant, and did beautiful tile work. I appreciated that he was the one who came to look at the job and also who did the work - he didnâ t hand it off to someone else. I had prepped the shower walls with Kerdi-board but didnâ t do the most level job. Luckily, Gavin has decades of experience and was able to save our tile install from being a disaster! Will be sure to call him once itâ s time to remodel the second bathroom. Highly recommend GM tile."

Home Improvement
"I had 2 bathrooms with water damage which needed remodeling. Michael, the owner of D S Builders, was very easy to work with. From the start, he was helpful in directing me to the places I would need to obtain the necessary supplies, i.e. tile, fixtures, lights, toilets, bathtub, ect. His paperwork was organized and specific to the time the work would take, when payments were due and the order the work would be done. He is prompt, polite and very detail oriented and he managed his sub-contractors without issue. The job site was always cleaned up at the end of everyday. He was always ready to discuss the progress, problems or alternate ways to complete the work. He is a very good communicator; and he made sure we were always on the same page. Furthermore, the quality of the work performed was outstanding! I could not have wished for a more perfect outcome! I love both my new bathrooms, and I would hire this company again in a minuet to compete any other projects."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
