"I hired “Nailed It” Builders to do several pieces of repair and construction at my townhouse in Sunnyvale Ca. The first was the removal of exterior covering of a garage wall consisting of cedar shakes. The shakes had been providing the viewable covering for some 40 years and it was time for a change. I had decided that I did not want to use Cedar Shakes again, but rather finish the exterior with stucco which would match the construction type used for the community in which I reside . Nailed It sent out a gentleman, Joseph, to review the options and assess the amount of work required. Joseph was on time, knowledgeable, and courteous, and presented a plan of construction that met my requirements to a tee. He also recommended a new external door from the garage to the front lawn which turned out to be just what was needed. "Danny's expertise shone through from our very first meeting, where he presented an impressive initial design that immediately instilled confidence in the project's outcome. His meticulous planning and efficient execution made the process nearly effortless for me. Throughout the project, Danny demonstrated exceptional professionalism: He patiently addressed all my questions, ensuring I felt informed and comfortable with each decision. He took charge of the shopping process, offering valuable professional advice on material selections. When the initially chosen tile color didn't translate well from the store to my home, Danny proactively brought a sample for us to evaluate in situ. This attention to detail allowed us to pivot and select a more suitable option that enhanced the overall aesthetic. The final result exceeded my expectations, with Danny's design acumen particularly evident in the enlarged shower space. His thoughtful approach to space utilization has significantly improved the functionality and appeal of the room. Danny's combination of design talent, project management skills, and client-focused service resulted in a fantastic outcome that I'm thrilled with"

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
