"I hired F&J Services to install a small paver patio area and almost 100ft of landscaping block edging. I originally purchased the materials and intended to do the job myself, but winter was approaching and I ran out of time. F&J Services did a much better job than I could have, and at a reasonable price. They were also very easy to work with and communicated well."

"James and his team did a fantastic job finishing our walkout basement. The entire process had great communication about what was being worked on. James is also the best carpenter and his knowledge of construction and remodeling is unmatched. We had the wrong sized electric fireplace and James added amazing custom trim to make it work and it turned out looking even better than we originally hoped. On top of it all James takes pride in his work and cares about his customers. Heâ  s the kind of guy you could go golfing with, which I did after they finished up the amazing basement job. Highly recommend!"

"We had the pleasure of working with Alex for our basement remodel project last year. We are very happy with the final result, and working with Alex during the project was nothing but positive. He was very friendly, communicative, attentive to our needs, and dedicated to getting the job done to our satisfaction. We were in the final stages of the project, and it was looking like our son would be born at any time. Alex, being aware of this, dedicated himself to make sure that the project would be complete by the time the baby was born. I would highly recommend this company for your next remodel project."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
