"Jared and his team led three improvements to my home. First, the AC/heating units and all duct work were replaced. Jared coordinated, closely monitored and provided important direction to the subcontractors. The second was remediation of plumbing issues. This included replacing a water line to the house and reconfiguring it so that no further issues occurred. It also included remediation of water under my home. Jaredâ s persistence to ensure all was repaired was critical and included his personal oversight. Lastly, Jared and others with HC Barrett replaced my fence. Their work was carefully detailed and the fence is not only beautiful, but it provides safety for my dogs. I will continue to work with Jared and HC Barrett. Their commitment to excellence is a role model for others."

"McMurray Builders did a wonderful job replacing the steps up to my deck so that I can get in and out easier. They were quick to get back to me when I reached out and got right out to get the job done, I will definitely be calling them again."

Kitchen remodeling
"We met with Chris while in due diligence for our new home. We met with 2 others to discuss possibilities renovating the kitchen. Chris was the only one to speak about his design ideas cautiously and realistically given our space and our budget. He was very clear and honest about what could be done and how much various other things would seriously blow up the budget. It's hard to describe the feeling this approach gave us. It felt notably honest and even tempered compared to the "gung ho, let's go!" approach we also encountered. It really made us trust him to do the job without being conned. Trust is an invaluable trait. Trusting him and his crew to remodel a kitchen is one thing. Trusting a contractor (and his minions) into your home with a toddler is another. Not only did Chris, Wes, David, and Isaias meet those expectations, they went above and beyond. They took great care to clean up during and after their work. There was no hollering, swearing, or anything else for a 2 year old to pick up on other than learning some "Hola!" and "Adios". This may not sound relevant to a kitchen remodel but, if your home has a similar context, it's helpful to know a team that can feel like part of the family after a week. In addition to feeling like part of our family, it was evident the care and camaraderie shared between the guys. The respect they have for one another comes through in their casual conversation while working but also in the way they approach problems or complications in the project, with calm discussion and sharing of ideas to get the job done right. Chris took great care to make sure every variable detail was just the way we...er, my wife wanted it. He checked and confirmed with us on any component that had multiple options. He also gave us DIY options to save costs, and gave suggestions on how to do some of that stuff. Our experience with Chris and the crew give us the confidence to recommend them to fit the needs of remodel jobs with a realistic budget. They are well worth their time and pay. We are giving them some time off before calling them back for some of the other projects we so cleverly devised while they were here. One thing to note, Chris is a phone call type of guy. So if you get worried he's run off with your cabinet deposit because he hasn't responded to your texts: 1)make sure you actually have his number correct in your phone. 2) Call. Between saving lives in Matthews, and remodeling kitchens around town, he's about as busy as can be but was always prompt and cordial responding to a phone call. Hope this helps!"

"Angela and her team at Total Care Renovations did a fantastic job with installing new drywall and painting my kitchen. I have hired several contractors in the past that either didn't complete the job to my satisfaction, not complete the job in a timely manner or just simply wasn't professional. Angela's team was professional, completed the job in a timely fashion and to my liking. I am already planning my next project. I highly recommend."

"Red Cedar was wonderful to work with. We met with Jon after several contractors gave us quotes based on how THEY would like to renovate the kitchen, and he actually listened to our ideas and goals for the space and provided straightforward feedback. We never once felt that we were being steered in one direction or another. When we removed the kitchen wall to open up into the dining room, there was a large pipe running right down the middle of the room. Red Cedar immediately came up with a plan to redirect the pipe. During the course of the renovation, every time we ran into something unexpected they thoroughly explained it and offered a sensible solution that kept us within our budget. The sub-contractors were also top-notch. Each one was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. That wasnâ t always the case in our previous renovations with other companies. From start to finish, timelines, resources for tile, countertops, sinks, etc. were all provided and communicated impeccably."

"I hired KP Builders for my two story addition. Alpesh built an office room and media room down and upstairs. The finish was perfect that was appreciated by everybody who visited my house. He gave me lot of creative and very useful ideas to make most use of the space. He took care of the permits, quality material and kept me posted on the plan and stayed on top all the time. I would highly recommend his services to anyone."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
