"Not only was Silas a pleasure to deal with, but his attention to detail was truly extraordinary. He restored my aging deck beyond what I thought was possible. I hired him to stain my deck, but what I got was really restoration. He trimed the shrubs encroaching on the deck, thoroughly pressure, washed it, spent over a day on his knees sanding the deck, replaced rotten boards and then gave it two sprayed on coats of stain. I will be hiring Silas again to do some interior painting for me as well. I canâ  t praise the quality of his work more."

"Mark and Keith did amazing work on all the damaged exterior trim I had, door Tim, fascia trim, window trim, and siding. They were fair priced and professional on all aspects of the job. They showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up after themselves and took the trash away. After they finished the trim work, I asked them to come back and replace a basement window. "Rafael and his crew of painters worked with me to complete an exterior transformation of my home in Boxborough. The work included power washing and staining the clapboard southern front and eastern side of the house, as well as painting the house cellular PVC trim and the new front door surround on the southern exposure of the house. The painting was done with care and efficiency, while at the same time ensuring that the work was completed at a high standard. All this was done at a fair price. They will return in the new year, once construction work on the west side of the house is completed, to stain the clapboards on the northern rear of the house and western side, as well as paint the cellular PVC trim. - Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
