"I hired HandyCrew Services to do a "laundry list" of jobs around my condo. The jobs included installing light fixtures, installing a bathroom faucet, installing a bathroom fan, texturing and painting my kitchen ceiling, re-painting my security door to name just a few. These are jobs I've been wanting to get done and have sort of put off because of finances. I got the finances together - along with figuring out exactly what I wanted - and began looking for a handyman service. I selected HandyCrew Services because they do have licenses, their staff is very professional, they returned with a written estimate of each job broken down almost immediately - within 4 hours of the estimator coming to my home. Pricewise, they came well within the range I had expected. The crew arrived on time and prepared to work. The bathroom fan was installed by 2 men who did a fabulous job! The fan was installed quickly and works beautifully. They placed plastic sheeting around the entire bathroom, took all their trash with them, and left the bathroom clean, neat and organized. Gustavo did all of the other jobs himself, and I cannot speak highly enough of him. He did these jobs over 2 days, and worked efficiently and quickly. Yet, Gustavo was also thorough with each job he worked. When he finished he cleaned up the area and left the area looking clean. All of the members on this crew were respectful of my possessions and were careful not to cause a situation that would place my possessions in jeopardy. I would most definitely utilize this company again, and will feel comfortable referring them to any friends or neighbors who might be looking for handyman services. I really cannot speak highly enough about this company!"

"The project involved comprehensive renovations, including the demo of floors, tiles, wood paneling, popcorn ceilings and wallpaper. He installed two full bathrooms, complete with shower and tub surrounds, plumbing fixtures, vanities and mirrors. Additionally, he refinished the kitchen cabinets, installed recessed lighting, ceiling fans and a wall unit, and painted both the interior and exterior of the house along with all new hardware and fixtures. "My house was in desperate need of TLC. It needed a new paint job, repair of wood due to termites, and repair water cracks in the stucco. From repair, to primer, to paint, my house did a complete u-turn. I also up-grated and added new rock siding. They also cleaned up on a daily basis. My house now looks like a modern country cottage. "This was a very professional company. We hired them to repaint and refinish our kitchen cabinets. The crew did a fantastic job!. Every day there was a supervisor to check on the status of the job and to keep us updated. The crew was very clean and protected the surrounding walls and floors. You’ll likely need additional equipment like ladders, scaffolding and possibly a paint sprayer. It’s almost cheaper to just hire a pro. Talk to a local exterior house painter about your project.

But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
- Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
