"So far, Iâ m really impressed with Stonebrook Construction Group. Just to clarify, this is the one based in Denver, with offices in Ft. Collinsâ there are a few other companies with â Stonebrookâ in their name, so donâ t get them mixed up. My wife and I have been exploring ways to get more space out of our home (weâ ve got 3 kids, so we need it!), and we initially thought weâ d have to pop the top. But that wouldâ ve meant moving out for a while, and that just wasnâ t an option for us. Weâ ve got a lot of equity in our house, but selling isnâ t in the cards until the kids are out of school. Thatâ s why a basement digout seemed like the perfect solutionâ adding square footage without having to move out. But finding trustworthy Denver companies that do basement digouts wasnâ t easy. There wasnâ t much out there in terms of resources on crawl space excavation, and I wasnâ t about to jump into something this big without feeling confident. Thatâ s when I found Daniel and his team at Stonebrook Construction. From the very beginning, they were upfront and transparent about everythingâ pricing, the process, and what to expect from the project. I had reached out to a few other Denver companies that specialize in crawlspace conversions to basements, but they either werenâ t clear about the details or didnâ t have great reviews. Daniel, on the other hand, walked me through every step, explaining exactly whatâ s involved in excavating and finishing a crawl space and converting it into a basement. It made a huge difference in my comfort level. Iâ ll admit, I was a bit concerned at first because Stonebrook is a newer company, but Daniel shared detailed bios of the team members who would be working on my project. Seeing the combined experience of the crew really gave me the confidence to move forward. Communication has been excellent, the pricing is fair and transparent, and Iâ m excited to see how it all turns out. If youâ re looking to add space to your home without the hassle of moving out, Iâ d definitely recommend Stonebrook Construction Group. Theyâ ve been nothing but helpful and honest from the start."

HomeAdvisor makes it easy to connect with pros near you. You can read reviews, get quotes and book appointments all in one place.
Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
