"If every builder I worked with were like Henry Jones, my life would be 10x easier. He showed up when he said he would. Communication was excellent. I always knew what to expect. He gave me a bid and kept to it. He didn't expect money until the job was complete. And on top of it all, he did an excellent job installing doors, trim and baseboards. I would happily hire him again and recommend him to anyone needing doors and/or trim."

"I went to Home Advisor after my original painter failed to show to repaint my cabinets and then did not return my call. I was skeptical about using a contractor who did not come recommended by somebody I knew but I was desperate to get my job completed. Bigfoot Cabinet Refinishing called me the night I made my request and quickly gave me an estimate which was very reasonable, but still I did not know what kind of work he did. Although he was scheduled out for the next three weeks, Nate agreed to take my job and promised to complete it within a week and immediately went to work. He was not only skilled in his craft but was extremely professional in his communication and interaction with me and completed my job in just a few days. I am completely satisfied with the work Nate did and very happy with the price. I would highly recommend Bigfoot Cabinet Refinishing for your next job."

"I Contracted with Coffin Plumbing to replace a failing water heater in my home. Bo Coffin owns the business and did the work; which was both timely and excellent. As well, Coffins price was well below other estimates I received. Top notch and professional job!"

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
