"You donâ  t realize how essential that a functioning sewer system is to your quality of life until it gets clogged. If youâ  re like me you scramble and take a hit or miss approach to find a competent plumber. We ended up using a 4 1/2 star Yelp plumber with 250 reviews. After working 4 to 5 hours and a charge of $525, the problem was still not fixed and they wanted another $2350 to dig up the front yard and make major modifications to the sewage line. We restarted the search for a plumber and ended up selecting Ceasar at Sunset Professional Plumbing to take care of some unfinished business left over by the first plumbing company. We were very impressed with Ceasar and Mario. Long story short, they fixed an issue in short order that the other company could not which helps protects the house from damage during a sewage line clog. Sunset Professional Plumbing has some serious sewer unclogging machinery that the other company did not have. Ceasar is a capable, resourceful and a great problem solver which is, in my opinion, what you want when facing a serious plumbing problem like ours. I would use Sunset for all plumbing issues. And the fees for the work Sunset Professional Plumbing/Ceasar did at our house were very reasonable."

"Great quality and great service! I hired V&E to demo our shower and tub, then build a new shower with two niches and extend the floor tile where the tub used to be. They communicate every step of the way, are punctual and professional. Plus, they are really nice guys! Wish more contractors were like this. I am extremely happy with the outcome!"

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
