"Absolutely worth every penny after the freeze there was not short of sketchy contractors out to take you money with leas than stellar results I had one of those guys after quickly realizing I’d made a mistake I fired him. Upon doing so I remembered the guy who repaired my fence some weeks earlier did a great job. Just so happen it was Erik with EOC remodeling I though I’d give him a shout an he showed up the same day looked at all the issues quoted me a fair price an began fixing all the damages made by the previous guy. As the work went on an our home began to look livable again we decided to get wood floors throughout the house an as expected no problems he quoted a price even picked up the materials an continued bring my home back to a livable space. I can’t say enough about the work this man has done for me an my family an with more changes to come in the future I have no doubt who I’ll be using going forward."

Cedar is a popular material in Dallas siding installation for one reason: its unique and unmatched beauty. If you want to create a home that will catch the eye of people passing by, cedar is a siding that will create admiration without the overwhelming feel of stone siding. Unfinished it creates an unmistakable ambiance of warmth and aroma that only a natural wood can deliver. For more stylized effects, you can finish or stain the wood to any number of colors and appearances while maintaining cedar's beautiful texture.
Cedar Shake Siding
In Dallas, cedar shake siding is the most popular from of cedar siding. Shake is made from splitting cedar logs with an axe to create manageable pieces of wood. Regular cedar siding is sawn an all sides. Using cedar shake siding in Dallas makes sense from a lumbering perspective, and it creates a nice texture for your siding installation.
Other less common types of cedar siding include panel siding (where cedar shingles are mounted on sheets of plywood to create a panelized look) and beveled cedar (siding made of cedar shingles of different thickness). Even the type of cedar tree you choose will have a big impact on your siding installation. Red cedar from the Pacific Northwest is a little more common; Eastern White Cedar imported from Quebec is more expensive, although it's generally considered more beautiful and longer-lasting.
Maintaining Cedar Siding
Cedar is one of the only woods that can be used as a viable siding material. Its natural ability to resist rot makes it better suited to endure rain and moist conditions. While treatments are often advised, even untreated cedar can withstand a good amount of water. Of course, proper maintenance is still needed to create a long-lasting siding installation. Dallas cedar siding should be re-sealed every couple years. You should also minimize the amount of tree and plant growth along the side of your home to increase the ventilation and reduce the time it will take for the cedar to dry out after it rains.
Cost of a Dallas Cedar Siding Installation
If cost is a huge concern, cedar siding may not be the answer for you, but it's far from prohibitively expensive. To give you some idea, the average vinyl siding installation is around $7,500 and your cedar siding project will probably be somewhere in this neighborhood. On the other hand, it could cost as much as a stone siding installation which can often exceed $12,000. These numbers, though, are only averages. Depending on the size of your home, a Dallas cedar siding installation can range from as little as $5,000 to more than $10,000.
Project Length
Unfortunately, installing cedar siding is labor intensive. Your Dallas cedar siding contractor may spend up to a week or more pounding his or her hammer against your home. Usually homeowners try to arrange it so this work is done during the day when the house is, hopefully, empty. In fact, the cost of labor plays at least as big of a role in the overall cost of your siding installation as the material itself. The good news is that labor costs can vary more between different Dallas cedar siding companies than the price of building materials. This means if you do your homework and talk to multiple contractors you can frequently find a bid considerably lower than competition. Still, it never pays in the long run to install siding with inferior workmanship. Make sure whoever you hire can be trusted to do the job right.
All types of siding offer both pros and cons, but few siding installations combine all the things you can ask of a cladding like Hardie board siding. The cement fibers in Hardie siding give you the strongest, most durable siding on the market. Engineered specifically to mimic the beauty of wood siding, it'll give your home the curb appeal it deserves without skipping a beat. It's all but impervious to pests, fire, and severe weather. If you're looking for a siding installation in Dallas, Hardie board siding has it all.
Hardie Plank Siding
Hardie board siding is also called Hardie plank siding. There's no difference. It was developed more than 100 years by James Hardie for the Australian housing market. You can now buy generic fiber cement siding, although the James Hardie Company is still the leader in this area. Dallas Hardie plank siding is a particularly good idea for homeowners who plan on remaining in their home for many years. Dallas Hardie siding will probably last as long as the house itself, and look good the entire time.
Fiber cement siding requires a mandatory paint job, although you can always order your Hardie plank siding pre-treated. Either way, this paint or color treatment will protect your siding investment and produce any number of decorative effects that you desire. Fiber cement is a far cry from the concrete sidewalk outside your home. The best way to look at it is having a blank canvass for you to choose what you want your home to look like. The sky's the limit.
Cost of Siding Installation
Most forms of siding are extremely comparable when it comes to overall cost, although vinyl does tend to be slightly cheaper. The average cost of a siding installation is around $6,000-$7,000 and Dallas Hardie board siding is no different. Of course, the biggest factor in determining cost is the size of your home. We see projects come in as little as $3,000 all the way up to $10,000 or more. Doing your homework and talking to multiple Dallas Hardie siding contractors is also vital to ensuring you get the best possible price. The real cost-cutting benefits of Hardie board siding is the lack of any maintenance down the line. Once you've installed Hardie siding in your Dallas home, you can begin to look elsewhere in your home to invest your money.
Project Length
One notable disadvantage of Hardie plank siding is that it's difficult to install. While no siding is particularly easy to install, some siding involves fairly straightforward nail and hammer work. Not so with Hardie plank siding in Dallas or anywhere else. The hard, brittle cement fiber planks require special installation techniques and must be handled carefully to avoid cracking during the installation process.
The average project length for a Dallas Hardie plank siding installation is about two weeks. This doesn't necessarily mean you'll have someone pounding on your home for 14 straight days. Weather and scheduling can often cause temporary delays. Plus, most homeowners don't want someone pounding on their homes 24 hours a day. In fact, siding installation is one of the only home improvement projects that you'll most likely want to be absent for. Still, as long as you don't have a habit of holing yourself up in your house, a siding installation shouldn't be a huge inconvenience.
The weather of north Texas is nothing to scoff at. We still get the searing heat of the Texas summer, but winter blasts are more common and the occasional tornado isn't unheard of, either. For this type of climate, you need a siding that's going to stand up to the worst Mother Nature has to offer. Cement siding is a great option for homeowners who know they need performance, but can't afford luxurious stone siding. Cement siding is impact resistant, moisture and heat resistant, and virtually pest and fireproof.
If you've become interested in cement siding for your Dallas home, you're on the right track for a great home improvement project. Besides the natural benefit of new siding, installing cement siding is one of the best home improvement projects out there for recouping your cost with additional property value.
Cement Siding vs. Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding is, by far, the most popular siding on the market, but this doesn't make it superior to cement siding for performance, looks, or even cost-effectiveness. Though hailed as the
