"We hired Custom Painting to do exterior and interior work on our 4000 square foot rustic timber home, located on a steep lot. Often working up to 40 feet off the ground, Dario and his crew did an excellent job staining and sealing siding, trim, decks, soffits, and window frames. Inside, they sanded and sealed natural pine wainscoting, wood-wrapped windows and doors, railings, and a 25-foot central tree trunk post. We were impressed at the meticulous way the crew worked, leaving not a single ding or scratch on any of the adjacent drywall. Nothing was broken, and everything was left tidy. The crew were always courteous, professional, and punctual. And much quieter than any painters weâÂÂve worked with previously! Communication was excellent â they notified us in advance when theyâÂÂd be working, and regularly reviewed finished work and planning options. Pricing was very reasonable, and fully understood in advance. We highly recommend Custom Painting and will definitely use them again in the future!"

"Very efficient! We decided last minute to hire painters instead of doing it ourselves. We had cleaners and movers already scheduled and a short timeframe. We contacted Zach through Angie s List on Friday evening, he called within 15 minutes. We set up an appointment for an estimate the next morning at 9am, he had a crew there to start at 12 noon. They worked long days to get the job done by Tuesday at 3 pm. We had the main floor painted about 1300sq ft, including ceiling, trim, doors, windows & walls. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, closets, hallway, split level entry, living room and dining room. We have a little clean up to do around the edges, but over all we are very happy with the job and were quite amazed it was done in time!"

- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
