  Comment: I believe the cause of the problem is that the drains are not functioning appropriately. The house is 65 years old with a full basement of cement construction. We have owned the house for 25 years. Sometime in the past prior to our ownership it appears that a drainage system was installed under basement floor and the basement floor was resealed. The water appears to entering the basement between the seams of the original basement concrete and the concrete installed to reseal the floor after the drainage was installed. There was not a sump pump installed. We had water in the basement around 2008 for the first time and two other times prior to 2023. In 2023 we have had water 4 times (3 in December). We did install a sump pump over this past weekend and there is water just below the floor. We did not experience water entering through the floor from Friday's rain. We consider the sump pump an interim solution.
