"The project is not complete yet due to the weather (my bad in waiting too long to get started) but so far this is the best experience I've ever had with a contractor. They obviously care a LOT about the quality of their work. What has been done thus far is excellent and they have a plan in place for steps to take to get the project completed as soon as weather permits. Not the cheapest bid but the difference in quality is well worth it to me -- I'll end up with a long-lasting attractive deck rather than one that continues to deteriorate and fail which would have been the result if the cheaper bids' shortcuts had been taken instead. "When we decided to add a deck to the back of our home I was ready to tackle the project myself when I realized I’m 1 - NOT 30 anymore and 2 - really didn’t want to end up with something that looked… not what my wife and I wanted. With the help Angi, I found Mike and MG Exterior Contracting. Once I met Mike in person, I knew he was the guy to build our deck. He answered all of my questions, explained why some of my ideas, while possible, were not necessarily cost effective or attractive. We had planned on scheduling for later in the summer but a cancelation allowed us to accelerate our timeline. MG Exterior has what I believe to be a great way of getting materials for their projects- Mike orders needed material, then I called to pay for it. In other words, MG Contracting isn’t padding the cost of materials or hiding extra profit under a “miscellaneous materials” heading Mike, John and Andy showed up on Monday morning on time and ready to get started. The material had been delivered the previous Friday, so they got started without delay. Any project is going to have issues that arise and our deck was no different but Mike made sure I was aware of all issues so there weren’t any surprises when they we done. A little about the construction. MG Exterior Contracting uses a product I had not seen before, Trex tape. They taped the top of every joist and even the cut ends of the 4x8 that hold the deck up. Something I noticed after they were done is that the tape means when you look down, you don’t see black Trex clips and bare wood. The tape basically makes the clips disappear. I could go on and on about how impressed my wife and I with both our new deck and John and Andy and Mike as people and workers but I’ll leave you with this, if I had to build another deck tomorrow, there is no other contractor I would call to have do the work. "We hired Western Paver Design based off of a friend s experience as they had just remodeled their backyard. Their property looked amazing after the remodel and I was convinced to give Joe Fisher a call after learning how thorough WPD is with all their jobs. The great John Wooden once said, If you don t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it again. This really sums up the meticulous approach to craftsmanship that the WPD crew has. For our project, we had our 30 year old deck torn down and the concrete pool deck below ripped up due to invasive tree roots lifting the concrete. Demolition was a breeze that basically took one day. After demo was over, the head of Joe s crew, Darwin, got down to work with crafting a solid, level foundation to lay down new pavers as well as the footings for the new deck. Darwin made light work of the pavers and two new retaining walls on our property. That work alone really transformed our back yard into a new space. Once the pavers were down, it was time for the 14 x 12 deck to go up. To complicate things, we asked for a roof over the deck that was attached to the home s roof and that it look like an original feature of the house. This was truly no problem for WPD as the new addition to our home went up without a hitch. All our neighbors can say as they come over is Wow! because the craftsmanship is amazing and really shows due to the beautiful cedar wrapped posts and tongue and groove ceiling. In addition to the deck, pavers and retaining walls, we also had WPD design and build a 7 foot privacy fence. With over 380 feet of fence line this was a daunting task, but no match for WPD. The fence looks spectacular and is solidly built. WPD also cleaned up the side of our house by adding new steps, which look fantastic. They also added a sliding barn door to our unsightly pool equipment area. Now the area looks professionally finished as well as being more functional. Last but not least, we added a slide right next to the new stairway. We had no idea how this would finish, but Darwin and his ingenuity led to a solution that we were more than happy with. Utilizing left over Trex composite decking from the deck build, they created a cute little platform to step up to the slide that our kids instantly began to enjoy. Our experience with Western Paver Design was ultimately a pleasure. Joe is personable and has a great crew. We loved the work and experience so much that we are having WPD back to redo our front yard in the Spring."
