"Our home addition with this group was a major undertaking, a new master suite and two bathrooms, but they made it seem manageable. The estimate was detailed, showing material costs and labor separately so nothing felt hidden. They coordinated all trades: plumbers, electrician, drywall, tile, paint. The attention to detail was amazing too. They re-positioned a door-frame by three-quarters of an inch simple because it looked off. The level of dedication really impressed me. The project was finished on budget and close to schedule. My wife and I are thrilled with the quality and professionalism."

"Had him rebuild an old patio cover in my yard. All we kept were the posts and two beams. Replaced all else. Came out very nice. Couple months later had him do some porch railing and window sill repairs on a rental house my mother owns. Nice work, very fair price. Will definitely use him again."

"Due to my toilet flooding my bathroom flooded and I was not in the market for getting a bathroom remodel done due to budget constraints. However when MJ gave me a price for the restorative work he mentioned he would be able to offer a good price for the bathroom remodel. His price for the bathroom remodel was in my budget and after the work was done I was very pleased to have chosen that route. It was marvelous working with Mr MJ!"

"Hector & his team were very professional. They did an amazing job and even finished early. Only took 2 1/2 weeks to do a complete remodel in my guest bathroom. I will definitely call him the next time I need work done."

"I can't say enough for what Arroyo Bros have done to transform my home. They have done (so far) remodeled a couple of rooms (kitchen and adjoining sunroom) that are absolutely beautiful. Not only that they discovered safety issues with missing support beams and engineered how to support my roof. It was a joy to have them work on my home."

"Family Builders, Inc is an exceptional company. The price quote was prompt and fair, the customer service is warm and extremely knowledgeable and we just love the craftsmanship of our beautiful new patio cover. We will definitely hire this company for all our future household jobs."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
