"These guys were honest and good at their work. Suggestions on replacing my deck saved me money(when I would easily have gone for the added expense). They also did not ask me for a dime until the project was completed. I would, and will, use these guys again. I recommend them highly."

plumbing
"I called C&A Plumbing for a kitchen garbage disposal leak. Carmine came in and took a look at the job and gave a reasonable estimate. His estimate was affordable and better then big name companies. He accommodated our price limitations and adjusted the dates as well. Once we decided on the dates Carmine was professional with his work and finished the job within a reasonable time. We decided to go with C&A plumbing because of the affordable rates, local family business and Carmine's courteous nature. I will surely hire them again and recommend them to friends & family."

"It was actually a sewer line repair. They repaired the line and the cost was the same as they originally quoted. Have other properties and would definitely use them again. Very pleased with their work and service."

"Dennis is one of the rare contractors who when he says he will be there at 7:30 AM, he shows up at 7:25 AM. And then when he does show up, he does terrific work. I had him take out a load bearing wall and install a micro-lam beam. Excellent work and left my place clean like he hadn’t even been there. I was so happy with his work I had him come back and install my new kitchen cabinets. Again, superb work and impressive crown molding work. Highly recommended and would absolutely use him again. Thanks, Dennis for a job well done."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
