Within one hour I was pleased to see it beginning to look attractive again. Using pruners and loppers (no chainsaw) he removed heavily damaged branches and lightened drooping branches so they could stand straight again. The hedge is now airy and natural, still high enough to provide privacy, and healthy enough to regain the strength needed to withstand the snow next winter. He explained that he partners with another firm specializing in just such damage and he contacted them on the spot. When that specialist arrived, the two men consulted on the best major work necessary, and with Bernie on the ground assistance, the other man applied a temporary sling to hold together a major limb that had split, until the major work on all three trees can be done according to a contract I accepted. When that work has been completed I will engage Bernie firm for their organic fertilization and root flare work.
