"Highest Recommendation possible! Adan and his crew are incredibly professional and meticulous, including offering to come back if any imperfections are found after the job is done! My job included drywall patching/finishing in the kitchen, sanding and painting all the trim and doors on the interior of the house, as well as painting the walls and ceilings. "Overall, Ken Rubio was courteous, informative and responsive. During the entire process, he was professional. He fully answered any questions and/or concerns regarding any of the work on our stucco house and wood fence. He was very thorough in the preliminary walk-around taking notes and pics on his tablet and explained the work to be done and the time frames involved. He provided a detailed written estimate in a very timely manner which included two time frames of tentative dates for the work to be scheduled. Ken was especially transparent and communicative in that regard. His work team was courteous and punctual. From my perspective, they were experienced and very efficient. I was very impressed with the attention to detail exercised by Big Horn with the house exterior trim. At completion of the job, any thing noted during the punch-list walk around was fully addressed to our satisfaction by Ken and his team. All work was completed as projected during the preliminary walk-through and as scheduled according to the estimate. There was no debris of any kind left behind. In conclusion, I will not hesitate to hire Big Horn again. I plan to contact Ken for some interior work as soon as practical for our household."

"From start to finish, this was an excellent job. We required a complete interior repaint on our 17 year old tract home. We had multiple colors and finishes - walls and ceilings needed lots of love. Paul, the estimator and general manager as well, arrived early for the estimate and gave us a thorough estimate. We had a bit of an issue with the paint crew - they happened to be new to AllPro. They were not neat at all their first day on the job and this was dealt with swiftly by Andy, the paint supervisor, and Paul as well. We were very appreciative of the fast response. The second paint team, Carlos and Ana, were awesome! Very punctual and neat, they cleaned up the mess left by the first crew and their painting is sheer perfection. They covered everything - floors, cabinets and furniture and cleaned everything daily when they were done so we could continue living in our home during the process. No detail is too small for these true professionals. Paul or Andy checked each day on progress. High recommend - too bad only five stars are allowed beause it turned out to be a 10!"

"Jose's crew filled cracks, sanded, primed and painted our deck. It looks great. They also landscaped a portion of our backyard where we had allowed the grass to die this summer. They removed the top layer of sod, and since we had lots of river rock piled on our property from other projects, they constructed a dry creek bed through that area, filled the remainder in with DG and added some grasses along with irrigation. It looks fantastic. And you will never meet a nicer man than Jose. We will use his services again if needed."

Leave exterior painting to the pros. Not only do you need to worry about the type and quality of the paint, you’ll also likely need a ladder and considerably more prep work. You’ll likely need additional equipment like ladders, scaffolding and possibly a paint sprayer. It’s almost cheaper to just hire a pro. Talk to a local exterior house painter about your project.

- Listen to the pro – they’re experts after all – but don’t get pushed into a color combination or finish type that you don’t want. Understand the different exterior paints or interior paint choices before your pro arrives.
- A rough estimate or complete quote. Finishing contractors vary here. Usually, they can quote straightforward projects on the spot. But some may need to take it back to their shop to run numbers and give you a detailed estimate with costs broken out. Neither method is better than the other, but just make sure to get multiple quotes.
- How long have you been in business? A long business history helps you avoid shoddy companies. It’s hard for a service business to stay in business if they don’t do good work.
- Are you licensed and insured? Not all states require a license for painting homes, but many do. Always use one that’s insured.
- Do you belong to any professional organizations? You’ll find many online, like the Painting Contractors Association or the Finishing Contractors Association?
- Do you have other work I can look at? Always check a portfolio or, in the case of painters, it’s better to look at work they did a few years ago to see how well it’s held up.
- How long will the job take? Get a rough estimate but get it in writing.
- How many people are in your crew? This is especially important if you work remotely. More people generally means more noise, but they’ll be done faster.
- Will I be in the way if I’m home during the painting? You usually won’t be in the way, but this question helps you understand what to expect while they’re working. They’ll need to lay down coverings and do a lot of prep work.
- Do you guarantee your work? Never hire a painter who doesn’t guarantee their work. This often means they’ll rush the prep work, since peeling never happens right away.
- What type of paint do you use, and how long is it rated to last? Different rooms need different paint and the exterior needs exterior paint. It comes in different grades with different guaranteed lifetimes.
- Can you supply a written estimate and contract? Never use a painter who isn’t willing to put his work in writing.
