"We returned home late on Christmas Day only to find our hot water tank had ruptured and soaked the carpet in our finished basement. Dr Jeff was kind enough to respond to our email to Home Advisor requesting an estimate for repairs. By midnight on Christmas we had an exact quote for a new 50 gal tank with a 12 year warranty, pressure overflow tank and the cost to haul the old tank away. He also gave us tips to minimize our water damage that night. Who gives that kind of service in this day and age? Well done Dr Jeff! He was prompt, personable, and did exactly what he said he would do at the quoted price, Jeff even showed my husband a few things he can do to prolong the life of our new tank. My husband and I are already talking about the next home repair project we want to hire him for in the spring. Jeff is a very versatile repairman and does more than just plumbing. We highly recommend Dr. Jeff."

"Patrick fixed the gas line that a local fence company busted. Patrick gave amazing customer service. He contacted me quickly and was professional but friendly. He did a very difficult and manual labor heavy job in less than two days. He kept me appraised every step of the way. He was very reasonably priced. He gave me insight on other projects I have coming up, and that was incredibly useful. I plan to use Patrick again in the future. Frankly, I feel like I made a friend as well a valuable home improvement contact."

A truly skilled, well-equipped professional with a truck full of parts that charges $100 an hour can be a much wiser choice than an inexperienced hack, working with inadequate tools and no parts, but charging much less. Often, more experienced professionals get the job done quickly with warrantied work.
2. Compare Travel ChargesRates reflect travel times. Travel charges can have a big impact on your costs and are in some ways easier to compare than hourly rates. Many electricians spend a third or more of their time navigating traffic on their way to a jobsite. Every contractor must find a way to pay for the expense of driving each day.
3. Bundle Repair Jobs TogetherWhen you feel it’s time to call a pro, review your list and then conduct a mini-inspection of your home. Look for faulty switches and dysfunctional or crowded outlets. When the electrician comes, you’ll save money and time by getting everything taken care of at once.
