"This company did an excellent job of staining our deck. They gave a very competitive price that we were pleased with. Their bid was actually half of other companies. Very friendly and attentive to our questions. When they were done they cleaned up and returned everything to its place where they had moved it from. We will definitely have them returning when we need their services again. They do about any type of handyman work. Welding, carpentry, painting, staining, etc."

"The owner kept in touch with me to let me know when the job could be started - we were waiting for an opening in the weather. I saved money by locating and purchasing the few shrubs I needed for the job myself, and by locating and having the mulch delivered the day they were here to spread it. This meant they didn't have to do the running around. The work was back breaking, and they did a very nice job of it. I had some large shrubs transplanted, and all survived the move. We are very pleased with our updated landscaping."

In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
