He was hauling off a leather couch and chair that our two magnificent Old English Sheepdogs (now lost to us, one at a time) had lived in and loved (and essentially ruined), and I was weeping over saying goodbye to especially the chair because it was just like mourning the passing of Brodie and of Bear all over again. Tyler indicated that I needed a hug, and he did that too! It must have been a first in his career: a client sobbing over the removal of junk, but Tyler was just that sensitive and respectful. "My name is Mike and i live in Amarado Estates in Wichita, Ks. I had a recent tree trimming bid for three trees in my front yard. I live on a corner lot so the trees were very easy to reach. The company I chose was Abeâ s Tree Service. They did these same three trees in July 2016 and bid $850 (I still have the estimate/bill/receipt). They did a very good job then and thatâ s why I called them again. This time (early May 2024)⠦⠦.they bid the very same three trees and bid $900, which seemed fair based on what they bid the previous time. I was happy to have them once again. BUT⠦⠦⠦their crew showed up and tried to bait and switch me by saying this was not a $900 job but a $2,700 job. I understand inflation is higher today than back then. I found an inflation calculator and it said $850 in 2016 was the same as $1.010 today with current inflation. But, inflation didnâ t just become an issue between early May 2024 and May 13. If inflation was the reason for the bait and switch desire to charge $2,700, where was that concern when their estimator provided the $900 bid. I told them to not unload anything and just move on. I wasnâ t falling for it. To say the very least, I was very disappointed in Abeâ s Tree Service and what they tried to do. Had this have happened to an unsuspecting elderly home owner, they might have received the up charge. I ended up using a very good guy with a tree trimming service called Kornfeld Tree Service (Ethan Kornfeld) (316) 452-6283 to do the job. He probably doesnâ t charge enough for the service he provides, so do him right if you call him. He came and cut up a very large fallen branch right away and is working me in with several other jobs where he needs to rent a man lift to complete the job. He is very good, diligent and thorough. I am, to say the very least, extremely pleased with the service he provided. Goodbye Abeâ s Tree Service!"
