"I hired Santos of Niz from Niz Masonry to install new granite steps and to fix the cement platform on the the sides. He did an excellent job he came at the time and day he said he was going to start He finished the job in approximately a day and a half. He cleaned up all debris and took it away. His work is professional and absolutely beautiful. This is the first time that I have used him and I am definitely going to use him again and refer him out to friends, relatives and business associates to people that need a good mason. "I had Hilario do a natural stone wall first with granite stone steps, all with stone material that was naturally available in my yard. He and his team did some excellent work for reasonable pricing. Most other companies don't want to even deal with stones that are already on-site, but I kind of like the idea. The stone wall looks really nice. I then had him also do the asphalt pavement of my new driveway. Outstanding job and also for very good pricing (and yes, I had several competitors bids). Lastly, I had him make me a paver stone area that is partt of a walkway. Also, real good work and it looks very nice. Overall, very professional, honest, reliable, excellent work that is reasonable priced, and the scheduling of the work was also very fast. I highly recommend him."

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Licensing

We require all pros to attest that they carry the appropriate local and state licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.
