"The entire process from our initial quote, install and follow up were superb. There was consistent and frequent contact by all members of the team. Jim was personable, thorough and provided us with an excellent quote. Caitlin was on top of the ordering process and ensured our materials were delivered ahead of schedule. The day of install, the gentleman were efficient and moved all furniture, including a very heavy wood stove. They put back furniture and reconnected our stove with ease. Following install, Mike came to review how things looked prior to payment. "Empire was amazing - we needed to replace/cover flooring in a room with crumbling tiles and grout. The salesman who first came was knowledgeable and offered many options and we locked in our sale price. It was easy to reschedule when we had a tornado in town and might not have had power the day of the install. Also, the flooring we had signed up for went out of stock in between the order and install time, so they approved for us to have a non-sale flooring to swap out when our time came to install at the sale price! On the day of the actual install, the installer was right on time, and did the whole room in just a few hours, checking in with me along the way with any questions and Sebastian did a beautiful job! We will absolutely be calling Empire again when we need other carpeting or flooring!"

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.
