When Mel came to do the estimate, he immediately identified several important issues both in terms of how the previous (now rotting) deck had been constructed and my design for the new deck. He noticed some uprights and a crossbeam that needed to be replaced or moved; these had not been included in his estimate. He did not charge extra for these items. He moved the steps to protect a rose bush, adding two additional steps; he did not charge extra. I would hire Mel for any other job within his competency. (Thank you, Mel!!!)
