"The company responded quickly and was out the next day to give an estimate to remove a failing 40 year old railroad tie retaining wall and replace it with a block wall. They responded with a detailed proposal and no pressure to sign. While Dream Makers was not the low bid, the extras they included that the other company did not (extra rock fill behind the wall, including a 90 degree return instead of just ending the wall at the property line, adding an apron of construction fabric covered with rock in front of the wall to stop erosion) showed an attention to detail I didn't mind paying a bit extra for. The crew (including the owner) arrived the day they quoted and were at my house every day (except when it rained) until the job was done. Each day the owner told me what they'd accomplished and what they would do the next day. The crew members were polite and worked hard. In short, Dream Makers did more than they promised (removing a lot more bad quality soil than they thought would be there and replacing it with rock, substituting in more expensive porous blocks).
