"We had a severe problem with out power - our meter base had weak connections on one pole and the heat from the unstable connection to the main power caused the meter and base to burn. Matt came out to our house - Very Remote! - and he worked on the damaged meter base until near midnight. The next morning he brought back the special meter base and lugs that we needed and he staid around while the power company's technician replaced the meter head. Matt checked all of the work and made sure that the power company made the proper connections and that everything was in order. The Power Company Tech was ready to energize the system when Matt made him stop and made sure that all of our circuit breakers were OFF so that our three HVAC systems, refrigerator, freezer, etc did not all surge at once. Then after making sure all was well, he gradually reset each breaker and then went through every room of the house checking every electrical outlet and light to make sure all was in working order. He was remarkable! My wife was so very happy that Mister Sparky had sent us a well trained, highly experienced professional electrician that she has decided to have Mr. Sparky do more electrical projects. It is so rare to find service technicians of the caliber that Matt displayed. He was polite, patient, friendly and very knowledgeable. He explained what had gone wrong with our electrical service, what needed to be done to fix it and gave us all of the possible options. He helped us arrive at a decision that was appropriate and affordable for us."

A truly skilled, well-equipped professional with a truck full of parts that charges $100 an hour can be a much wiser choice than an inexperienced hack, working with inadequate tools and no parts, but charging much less. Often, more experienced professionals get the job done quickly with warrantied work.
2. Compare Travel ChargesRates reflect travel times. Travel charges can have a big impact on your costs and are in some ways easier to compare than hourly rates. Many electricians spend a third or more of their time navigating traffic on their way to a jobsite. Every contractor must find a way to pay for the expense of driving each day.
3. Bundle Repair Jobs TogetherWhen you feel it’s time to call a pro, review your list and then conduct a mini-inspection of your home. Look for faulty switches and dysfunctional or crowded outlets. When the electrician comes, you’ll save money and time by getting everything taken care of at once.
