Suspected Area: Basement or crawl space
Comment: purchased old house... want to see what needs to be done before moving in. Smells funny, can't really say it is mold. My son growing up was allergic to mold (seizures) and I could then specify MOLD by walking into a room. NOW I am out of practice I guess. Smells dry and dusty (?) yet my dehumidifier I have running keeps filling up. Attic has no in house access. Electrician is going to have to cut a window/vent on outside of house to access attic for wiring more sockets throughout 1000 ft house (only has 5). Was told at closing table pipes freeze so be careful. Useful information and timely. haha. Plumber is next.... but wanted to get crawlspace checked out first that is where the pipes are.... all duct work is ran between the house ceiling and drop ceiling... which I may want to change that duct work into a hard metal and not a flexible foil looking thing later to take out the drop ceiling and finish the house ceiling with the duct work showing of course. (it just has to look better). that is a cosmetic thing for now, just trying to make it safe to live in... ripped up carpet, it was damp (humidity) but wood floors underneath was in decent shape. (going to clean them and put carpet down again... I have big dogs) so want to take care of the humidity issues in house and smell. See what is going on in crawlspace... Only about 2 1/2 foot deep. This house I bought and sold had a 6 ft celler so I was able to see it You would think with the ex-husbands I have I would learn to walk away from challenges.... Can't leave them alone, can't win. LOL
My son calls me and says "how you doing mom?" I respond "Calling for estimates with Electricians, I am still excited...not panicking yet". haha
