Reviews
Write a ReviewOn 09/21/2022 I wrote a review on work that was performed on my home on 12/21/2021. I was upset about customer service as my calls were not returned. I had the brick pointing done above my garage and roofing. I was pleased with the roofing as I did not get any more water in my ceiling. The brick pointing above my garage was done however it still needed to be addressed as I was still getting water inside my home. However he finally called me and addressed the issue by reinforcing the ledge as to not get any more water inside my window. Bottom line he came and so far it has rained and I don't see rain coming in. Hopefully it will remain that way.
They completed the job.
Cheap estimate but poor work. I would stay away from this one if you're looking for quality. Will seem extremely attentive at first and then slowly turn to brushing off concerns you point out and then finally the rush job is evident.
They were very professional they did really great job at my house.
I consulted home advisor on a Saturday evening. No business is open at that time; however, Hamza left me a phone message later that evening and we met on Sunday morning to discuss my job. Within the context of roofing my job was a small one. Hamza took time to discuss my options and did not try to sell me any add-ons to build the sale. His prompt reply and no pressure persona made me like him immediately and I hired him. He scheduled my job for two days later. His workers were courteous and arrived on time. They replaced a sloped section of my roof and cleaned all my gutters before the day was over. They left absolutely no debris behind either. I note that home
They were on time, neat, friendly and did superb work. I would highly recommend using them for roofing and other work.
Very thorough and on time and excellent work
Hamza contacted me after seeing my post requesting waterproofing work for my basement. Shortly after stopping by and giving me a free estimate, and explaining clearly what he would do, I hired HK Builders to remove an old cement ramp from my side door to the walkway on the side of my house, which the previous home owners had installed rather poorly. Hamza and his crew replaced it with brick stairs with limestone treads to match the front steps of the house. The old ramp was blocking and directing rain water into a basement window, which then leaked into my basement. HK Builders also excavated and waterproof the exterior foundation wall by the window. They also blocked in the window with bricks, then stucco & paint to match the outside wall, and to ensure no more water entering from that side of the house. It's rained a few times since they completed the job, and my basement has been bone dry since. HK Builders also guaranteed their work for 10 years. Hamza and his crew were total professionals, completed their job ahead of schedule, and left the property in prestine condition. I'm glad I found them on HomeAdvisor, and I look forward to possibly doing more work with them on the exterior of my house in the future. I would totally recommend them for waterproofing, cement, concrete and masonry work, as they did an excellent job at my home.
INSPECT, INSPECT, INSPECT! What started out well ended poorly. The job was to remove & repair all mortar cracks on the exterior of the house & some brick work in the front of house. Although Hamza indicated that I didn't need to be there the day of the work, I happened to be home the day. That said, I tried as much as possible to stay out of their way while they worked. I wasn't kept apprised on the status of the repair work so I wasn't able to inspect as they went. I took it upon myself to inspect Hamza & his team's work (subcontracted from High-Rise Construction??) in afternoon & noticed that they missed the repair of some cracked mortar in the front & subsequently even later in the afternoon the back of the house. Bear in mind earlier in the day, I'd offered to mark some of the "known" repair areas with chalk that I was able to see with the naked-eye from the ground & asked them to repair any other areas they saw when they were on the ladder. Hamza indicated that I didn't need to. That being said, I noticed that the team did not repair or properly fix some noticeable cracks post their repair work. When I brought it up to his workers some of the missed areas, they said I had to talk to their boss. Bear in mind, Hamza wasn't always available as it seemed he was also hustling (phone & offsite) for his next gig. When I was finally able to speak with Hamza, which was later in the afternoon & also towards the end of day about some of the misses, I could tell he was getting frustrated that I was bringing things up & blamed me for not inspecting sooner. I understand everyone was tired after a long day. I was tired too, but what would have happened if I wasn't there?? I can't even fathom. In any case, that's on me as I should have stood over their shoulder every step of the way & inspected. I also blame Hamza & his team. Perhaps it's a lack of experience where he wasn't properly communicating progress to me or they were short cutting the job or they didn't allot enough time & materials for the job to start. Did I mention that they didn't repair an area because they didn't have a ladder tall enough?! Needless to say the areas where I called out late in the day was sloppy done. We'll see if the work will stand the test of time. Especially the lackluster hurried end of day "patch" job. I've never had this experience with other contractors. Normally they try to go a little beyond since it's a business that relies on referrals & repeat business. Clean up was fair. Price was okay. As a far as a recommendation, "meh" given what I mentioned. I was potentially considering them for other work but after what occurred I've changed my mind.
Hamza reached out to me once I posted the job. He was the only contractor to actually show up on time for the free estimate, when many others were late or had to reschedule due to other appointments they made. Explained what they were going to do and after we hired them, they covered the hole in the roof to protect from additional rain until they could come to start the job. They completed the installation and replacement of our old roof in 3 days (cleaned up and took away all of the debris) and he had an interior contractor come to fix the inside of the room where the water had caused our ceiling to collapse from Ida, which took half a day to complete. Very professional and responds to comments and questions. Would use again if any future repairs are needed.
