Write a ReviewMy original repair was that my Subzero fridge's freezer's temperature was fluctuating between zero degree C and up to 30 degree C, causing the food to melt. I submitted to Angi to request for this repaid job and got the response right away from Appliance Repair NYC, which is highly rated by Angi per the profile. My contact is named Ido and provided him with the Model number of the fridge. He came to do a diagnostic for $81 on Dec 5th, and said the problem is the heating element and defrost thermostat, and quoted me 550 for the parts and labor, less the diagnostic. I agreed to the repair and he replaced both parts and sent me the invoice, which I promptly paid. Anyway the replacements didn't work and my tenant even mentions to him that the temperature display of the motherboard still keeps going up and down, and the food continues to melt and refreeze. He mentioned to my tenant to ignore the temperature display which makes no sense. In addition, the repair made from installing these parts caused the sliding door of the freezer to not close properly and it was stuck halfway by the tracks and screw not properly replaced. It took several wiggling of the door in order to close it. I initially asked him to come back to fix these problems as I am suppose to have a 3 month warranty on the parts. We agreed on Sunday Dec. 14th at 10am for him to come back, but he never showed up and didn't contact me with a reason. I tried to contact him multiple times and not until later in the morning he said that his cell phone was broken. I tried to schedule another service for him to come back next day Monday, and he was suppose to be there in the morning period. I asked for confirmation in the morning but also never got a response, since I have to travel out of my way from work to be there and I don't want to waste my time. I finally had to call SubZero directly to get a certified technician to come and look at the original issue and the broken sliding freezer door. The tech was able to properly diagnose the problem with the compressor and fixed it, and it's been working fine. He also doesn't think that the heating element and defrost thermostat caused the original problem so that repair was unnecessary. In addition, one of the screw that Ido used to put back in the track of the sliding freezer door was a regular screw and not a certified Sub Zero part, which caused the sliding door to not close properly. This will be another repair that the certified tech needs to come back to do. Given the misdiagnosis and the bad job with fixing the sliding door make me believe that he didn't have the expertise to repair Sub Zero, yet he went on to replace parts not required anyway and caused another issue. I am looking to get from Appliance NYC a full refund of the $596.76 I paid, and the parts and labor cost to fix the sliding door of the freezer, which is to be completed by the certified tech.
Nice, professional, and efficient
Ido was awesome! He really spent the time to help me with my washer and came multiple times (he even offered to come on Thanksgiving!). He was also patient and answered all my questions. From now on, I will only call him if I have any issue with an appliance.
Our wall oven was not working. It was urgent to get it working again. Idon arrived right on time. He's professional and friendly. He was well prepared and accurately assessed the problem. He ordered the part for us and it came very soon. We made the appointment for him to return to make the repair. He fixed it in less than an hour. And now our oven works perfectly. We're very thankful to him for his expertise, the fair price, and the manner by which he conducted business. We'd happily call on him again for any other appliance repair(s) in the future.
Within 20/30 minutes of me posting my request for services on a Saturday evening, I got a call from Appliance Repair NYC. My dryer vent hookup had come apart. They scheduled a visit for the very next dayâ Sundayâ and arrived on time. I am so grateful that they had weekend hours. Ido, the technician, was professional and courteous. He quickly assessed the situation and repaired the vent. The dryer has worked smoothly since. Without hesitation, I would work with Ido and Appliance Repair NYC again. I am impressed with the speed and reliability of their work.
