Reviews
Write a ReviewJoey and the Woodward team are great to work with! They were quick to give me a quote and reasonably priced. We had a RV Pad and Patio poured along with a fence installed. They are also working on a sprinkling system and installing SOD and garden bed with concrete edging. They started this project in late 2022 around Oct/Nov so couldnâ t quite finish the entire project due to weather but did get the concrete and fence done with very quick turn around. We are excited to continue to work with them this spring (2023) to wrap up our project. I would highly recommend this company!
Joey was very easy to work with. And he wasted no time getting the job done.
This company was about 4 months old when I hired them (confirmed by a worker at the end of the job). I was initially impressed with the follow-up from them when I would call or text. The work overall was pretty good. The fire pit, shed foundation, sprinklers/piping, downspout drains and 90% of the grading were done well. The hole for the in-ground trampoline was dug out well and is level. It was their first attempt at an in-ground trampoline and they were unsure how to backfill properly...I had to fill in most of the interior of the hole and finished backfilling the exterior wall areas myself. Two sections of fencing were damaged during the project. They repaired the fencing promptly, at their expense. They drove their tractor through my front grass at the end of the project, leaving large track imprints and dead grass as well as damaged edging. The one guy working that day thought it was the only way to get topsoil to an area of the yard. A couple more guys and wheelbarrows would have done the job...but that would have been more work and taken a bit longer to do. The edging is still damaged and the grass is about 80% back after I added dirt to fill in the deep impressions left by the tractor. There were some rookie mistakes and less than impressive workmanship throughout the project - the grass was laid out with significant gaps between sections, electrical conduit was supposed to be brought through the shed foundation but was not, and the step section of the fire pit where the edge of the fire pit meets the steps was not fully completed (I completed this myself), trampoline backfilling issue as already mentioned, they were not sure what a leach pit was when I asked them to add this to the fire pit...etc... All prior invoices were paid promptly by me during the process. They submitted the final invoice for the balance of the agreed-upon estimates. I paid the final invoice in full (several thousand) but I did not realize they added a second final invoice amount for items added during the job that they said they would take care of. The estimated values for these added items in this additional invoice were ridiculous - one item as an example was $600 for a full load of gravel that was added to the inner trampoline hole. I paid $770 for 14 cubic yards of cobblestone for another project - they said $600 was the cost for the full load used in my job. The gravel used in the trampoline hole was less than a cubic yard - not sure where the rest of the full load they charged me for went. This final invoice felt like they were trying to get me to cover the cost of the fence repairs on the back end of this job. I delayed in paying this final invoice due to the amount they said was owed. They proceeded to make threats and a strong arm for payment - leading to pretty unprofessional and even childish communications. An adjustment was ultimately made by them for this final invoice and payment of this adjusted amount has been paid in full. I was originally impressed and would have gladly recommended this company to others...the final interactions with them left a pretty bad impression, as such, I would not recommend them.
Larry and his wife were very hard to work with. We worked very hard for them and did everything we could to make them happy. We treated them very well and always with a smile. We have been and still are very respectful to them. They treated us well in person, but terribly over text and email. This review left by Larry is based on work not originally agreed upon. They approved our original estimate and work began. Then they continued to change/add things almost on a daily basis. We felt they initially expected us to pay for the additional items/services. When we brought up that we would have to charge them for additional items/services, and estimated in person what those charges would be, they agreed and said I trust that you'll make it fair. In our best effort to keep things moving, we completed all that they asked without question. Then when we showed them the actual invoice, after the work was completed, we got told that it wasn't in their budget. The invoice for the additional items/services included 6 tons of gravel, an additional garden spigot, and 100 feet pipe installed at the corner of his property, we trenched and buried an additional underground drain from an in-ground fire pit (a full day of work), and a pallet delivery of flagstone rocks. He even kept changing his mind on which sprinkler heads he wanted. We installed and changed multiple types of sprinkler heads multiple times, to install the original heads back on again. For all of this, we charged only $850.00, when normally all of that would have been easily over $2,000. We thought that was more than fair! Larry and his wife complained saying they were out of money and they aren't paying any of that invoice. Saying it was outrageously priced. He tried to dictate what our prices would be throughout the entire time working with him. In an effort to make him happy and get him to pay, we reduced the invoice to $450. Then he refused to pay the $450 for weeks and told us he would give us a bad review if we didn't remove the entire invoice. We told him no, it is due and must be paid. That we have been more than fair with them. Since we didn't let up, asking for payment, he finally paid the $450. This was the strong-arm tactic he was referring to. We asked Larry multiple times, including now after seeing this review, what we could do to make them happy. We have gone back a large number of times to make them happy. They tell us they are happy before we leave and then later, they complain again and again. We did great work for them! They installed a rock wall, to level back yard out. Also a French drain, covered with ground cover And topped with river rock, for a finished look. Buried our rain cutter hose lines, I will never Worry about water build up. The work looks Great! Prices were very reasonable. I highly Recommend they!!!! They also poured our Patio floor and shed floor. All very nice work.
