Horrible experience with this company I do not recommend. I truly believe that they were trying to scam me for money. My laundry room flooded, and water spilled from the 2nd floor to the 1st floor. Unfortunately, this incident happened on a four-day weekend on a Saturday July 3rd and I called this company to help me. They arrived that evening and used their moisture sensor where you could see obvious water damage and said it needs is to dry out. I told them I do not know who my homeowner insurance is but I did get it through KB Home. I specifically told them multiple times that I will be using my homeowner insurance company, but I will have to wait till Tuesday to find out who I am insured with to make a claim. The employee of Thomas Restoration Tyler told me for them to leave their equipment I have to sign a cash deal contract for 1,350 dollars because I do not have my homeowner insurance information. I asked Tyler if I sign the cash deal will it be voided once I get my insurance information and Tyler told me yes. Tyler told me once I get my homeowner insurance information we will use that instead of the cash deal. Tyler stated to me that cash deal is just to leave their equipment until I get my insurance information. Tyler placed the fans and kept mentioning to me that it does not look bad and that I would not need to use my insurance which did not sound right, but this was my first time dealing with this situation so I did not know. On Sunday Tyler came to check the moisture and told me one more day and it will be all dry, and again Tyler kept telling me that I do not need to make a claim with my insurance and that Ill pay more out of pocket if I do, but I kept telling him I am using my insurance. This made me feel uncomfortable that he was trying to persuade me to pay cash and not use my insurance, so I called another company to come out for Monday to get a second opinion. Tyler came back to check the moisture again on Monday and yet again told me the same thing, one more day for it to dry and he would not recommend using my insurance and I again replied with I want to use my issuance. The 2nd company that I called for a second opinion came that Monday and used multiple moisture reading tools and showed me where it was still wet, they recommend removing the tile and baseboards to dry it out and that Thomas Restoration were using the wrong size air movers. I told them like I told the first company I have no idea who my insurance company is and that I got it through KB Home. I do not know how but they found out who I was insured with and I then started a claim. I called Tyler and told him what was found by the 2nd company and that I no longer want to do business with them, Tyler then said well you signed the contract and that I owe him 1,350 dollars. I told Tyler that I filled a claim and that they can proceed with my insurance. His supervisor Kelton called me, and I explained the situation that it was very shady that Tyler kept insisting to not file a claim and that no demo will be needed because it was mostly dry, and that the 2nd opinion I got showed that there was still a lot of water in the walls and tile. I gave supervisor Kelton my insurance company name and claim number so they can get paid for their work. Two months later in September I get a letter from a collection group that state I owe Thomas Restoration over 2,000 dollars for not paying them for their service. I called Kelton to get more information on why I was sent to collection when I gave him all the information and Kelton told me that they could not reach my insurance agent which is a lie because my insurance agent asked them for an itemized invoice to see what the are charging me for, and they were unable to produce any documents to why they were charging so much for fans.
