Write a ReviewIt was great
Tom was available, easy to talk to, answered questions, offered suggestions. His crew was reliable, polite, experienced and hard working. A couple of small snags were discussed and solved without problems. Quality of work is excellent and we are very happy with the outcome. This was a 1,000 sq.ft. deck rebuild. We highly recommend Tom, with special shoutouts to David and Clara. Weâ ll be seeing them again to install the pergola!
It is most important to me that a contractor listens. Tom Ochs listened to me and added his own ideas. He and his crew were very professional while tearing down and replacing our deck.
good jpb
They did a very good job, I would highly recommend.
The Thomas Ochs company & staff did a great job tearing out the old rotting deck & original footings. One company member did an excellent job working very hard everyday & I told him that I so appreciated his efforts. Mr. Ochs asked for & also listened to my ideas & requests for various things such as updating/improving the 2 sets of railings & stairways. Have received many compliments on my new deck. My only concern was that the redwood lumber used for decking & stair posts had many knots. Mr. Ochs reassured that the knots would not affect the longevity of the deck. Would definitely use the Thomas Ochs company again for other decking needs.
Tom and his crew are very professional. They replaced a large deck and a retaining wall. The deck is beautiful redwood built to last a very long time. Highly recommend!
Tom was on time for our original meeting but after hiring him he took longer than promised to get the Deck built. The finished job looks great and very sturdy. His price was very reasonable. I will hire him in the future for other odd jobs.
Initially, everything began very well. Mr. Ochs came soon after we called him. He provided us a straightforward estimate of what he charged. We feel he ordered very good quality wood. Our problems began when he did not honor the terms of the contracts. The contract would say that one thing would be done, but when that was being done, it was different from the contract. When we questioned what was being done, we were told that it did not matter. We replied it mattered to us. So we could get the job done according to the contract, but we had to insist on it being honored. We do not feel we should have had to do that. We had this contractor do a lot of work for us over a period of six months. We feel there is a fundamental communication problem between the boss and his workers and suggest this could be improved. By the time we got to the end of the work to be done, we just felt we could not hire him for anything else because it was overall too stressful. One good thing to say about the overall experience-Mr. Ochs was very patient in allowing me to 'assist' and waited on me to get some drainage done that I had not counted on doing. That drainage had to be done because the contract was not honored and things were not done right in the first place.
- VERY reasonable cost for the final product. - Offers good suggestions and options for our consideration during the planning and building process.
