Powerwash Exterior Surfaces

Brendan was wonderful in every way - friendly, responsive, professional and willing to price match. Austin did a stellar job and my deck, door and siding now looks new again. I highly recommend Spruce and look forward to using them again.

Clean Windows

Brendan did a great job of getting the appointment coordinated and Austin and his crew had all the windows and doors of my house clean and shiny in two hours, inside and out. While up on the ladder Austin noticed two of my gutters were full of leaves, debris and holding water, which I had suspected. He offered to clean them out for an additional fee which I took him up on. Great job! Loved it that they are local guys working in their hometown.

Canceled project a week before starting. Lack of help

Hi Richard, I hope you're having a nice week. We were surprised to see this review. As mentioned, the reason we had to cancel this job was due to the departure of our deck-staining lead. We communicated this with you as soon as we learned that he would be moving out of state. We were certainly disappointed that we could not complete this service as well, but we did not feel comfortable committing to this job after his departure. We did also offer recommendations for other companies and offered to help manage this process. If this interests you, we are still glad to assist. Please let us know if there are other ways we can earn your trust back as a business. Again, we are happy to help look for others who can take care of your deck staining service. We just don't have the right staff at the moment given our lead's departure and don't think it would be right for us to complete a job without the right people in place on our side. Powerwash Exterior Surfaces

WOW!! 5 Star service in our backyard. Brendan provided impeccable customer service and Austin was ruthless ensuring he blasted the dirt and grime from our home exterior. Our place was really in need of this treatment. They also provided landscaping services to facilitate the cleaning since we had very tall shrubs blocking our windows. Overall, Spruce has earned our return business and recommendation!

Repair or Replace Section of PVC Gutters

Spruce knocked it out of the park! My gutters have been clogged up for months and Spruce came in and made them like new in only a couple of hours! Not to mention, Austin is an absolute pleasure to work with! He is super friendly, happy to accommodate my needs as a customer, AND above all, he does excellent quality work! Love love love!!

We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. While HomeAdvisor will continue its background check program to the extent possible, these closures could prevent some background checks from being performed. Please be advised that, during this period, if we could not perform a background check, HomeAdvisor will allow the business into the network and match the business to consumers. As affected government agencies and courts begin to re-open, we will resume our program in those jurisdictions. As always, we encourage consumers to perform their own research, to the extent possible, before hiring any business.

Licensing

We verify any applicable state-level licenses, and we require every business to attest that they carry the appropriate local licensing to practice their trade. Please note that HomeAdvisor does not confirm local licensing. Do your own research using online ratings, reviews and through phone interviews before hiring a company.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
