I was told the project would take 6-10 days to complete. From the get go there was one problem after another, many red flags I should have paid attention to but I figured it would be fine because this person was vetted through Angi. The demo was done quickly but water leaked through my kitchen ceiling during this time, which the provider never acknowledged. He would show up sporadically and I would see no signs of progress but gave him the benefit of the doubt. I was told he couldn't install the original shower insert we were using because it would take 6-8 weeks to get in so he agreed to tile it for the same price. I purchased all the tile but it took a long time before tile installation started. I was told he needed to order a blade for his tile saw. When he would show up to do work, it was never for more than 2-3 hours at a time. He would go entire weeks without showing up and always had a different excuse and I know he was lying to me because he was also doing work at a friend's house (shame on me for referring him, he started work on that project while he was working on mine). Once the tile installation started, I could tell the work was not good and thought many people would have insisted on having it redone but I just wanted it done. This is a secondary bathroom upstairs at my house, and I just wanted it done and this guy out of my house. We communicated through text and every time I said how disappointed I was, he would apologize and tell me this job would be his entire focus the next week and he promised to have it done. But it never happened. Finally I had a contractor come over to look at the work. This guy used to audit projects like this and he said it was literally the worst work he had ever seen, the shower would not be water tight, the floor was uneven and everything needed to be torn out. During the time he was working on the bathroom, our hot & cold water got messed up throughout our entire house (another contractor who I had over yesterday took off the shower valve that he installed and said it was done incorrectly and that was what was causing our hot/cold water issue) and there was another episode where water was pouring through my kitchen ceiling. I finally told him I wanted him to demo what he had done and we were finished. He did not show up when he was supposed to do the demo. My husband did not want him in the house anymore so I put all of his stuff outside on my front step and asked him to pick it up, which he did. I initially paid him $2000 to get started. I gave him a check, which he wasn't able to cash (red flag) so I gave him cash. After we agreed to work together, he said his phone number changed from the number we had been communicating through via Angi (red flag). He asked for another $2000 because he said the job was over halfway done on April 21 and I gave it to him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and was so hopeful he would come around but he failed in every way possible. It is very clear that he has no idea how to lay tile. I have photos if you'd like them and can screenshot our text messages. I can not believe the amount of time I have wasted on this, as well as money. Oh, I forgot about the shower door... he was supposed to have ordered the shower door on April 25th and he told me it would take 6-8 weeks for it to arrive. I asked him on May 15th if the shower door had been ordered and he said no. I asked why and he said because he didn't have any money. This has been an absolute nightmare. How does someone like this get past your screening process?

Michael was a pleasure to work with. Installed dental crown molding in entry way and painted it. He was very professional, was on time when he said he would come and cleaned up the job after he was complete. Will utilize him for other jobs in the future.
