Major Disappointment!!! Last August/September 2022, I got a few bids for pavers for my driveway and front yard landscaping and ended up choosing Scott Schumacher to do the work even though he had the highest bid. He was a very good talker about how great they were, being the best, had 35 years or so of experience in Incline Village, and had the hardest workers on their crew. Taylor is his number 1 guy and they convinced me that they are the best in the business. I placed my trust in Scott and Taylor, and unfortunately, when push came to shove, he lied and pulled a bait and switch. He and his crew did the work in September and October and the last part of the job (after completing the pavers and irrigation systems) was to seed 1 part of my lawn and put in about 215 1 and 5-gallon plants in another part. He then suggested that we not seed the area for the grass because it was bumping up against the winter and the grass won't have time to grow properly so we should wait until the spring. My girlfriend and I then asked about not planting the plants until the spring but Scott suggested that they will be fine and that if they do not make it, he will replace them. So, we went along with that as he made us feel comfortable that he would back all of his work. During the planting process which took several days, we asked 2 more times if we should wait on planting the rest of the plants and again he repeated that they will be fine and if not, he will replace them. Fast forward through the winter and once the snow melted around my home last week, the middle of May, I reached out to Scott and Taylor to come over to start the seeding process for the lawn and to assess the plants which looked very bad. I also asked them to provide a bid to do some work in the backyard now. He started to give me his sales pitch again about having 2 of the best workers ever and I laughed to myself since he said that about his crew that was supposed to do the original work at my house, but there were a few rounds of turnover of the workers for 1 reason or another, so another case of the big talking and even caused the job to be delayed to find another worker. Throughout the entire conversation, I 100% thought that he was planning on replacing the plants in the front so when I suggested that he would be replacing them, he vehemently denied that he ever said anything about that to us before and he referred me to the contract that said he is not responsible for acts of God. WTF!!! We should have known that guys like Scott that talk big and boast should not be trusted. He wanted me to pay him a 2nd time for all of the plants that needed to be replaced even though we were skeptical of them being planted at a time so late in the season but because of his guarantee, we went along with it. We trusted his word, and we should not have. Some additional irony for this story is the contract states that all of the paver steps leading up to the front door would have cap lights installed in them. When the work was supposedly complete, the top step did not have a cap light and I said that they missed it and it was necessary and expected since the contract says all steps. Well, they made me pay an additional $450 to have that 1 cap light installed despite me paying him $135K already for the job. I am disappointed with the bait and switch and because of these things, I would suggest you stay away. Well, maybe if you decide to use them, you might want to hire a lawyer to review the contract thoroughly, but there is certainly a lack of trust in working with this company.

Large project removing concrete to be replaced with pavers. Installation of extensive channel drainage system. Scott has extensive knowledge and experience which was a big plus during this project. The crew was very good and accommodating. Unfortunately Scott became confrontational when we questioned the quality of a small area of paver installation. He walked off the job without the final sealing of entire driveway. Job had been paid in full.

I was very happy and blessed to have found this landscape company through Home Adviser. Scott gave us a itemized written contract and he and his crew put in an extensive watering system for us. The work was completed in the time frame given. It saves so much time and effort in keeping our trees and shrubs flourishing. Thank you, Shumacher Landscape!

They do quality work as long as the customer agrees with the plans laid out by the owner. We did not approve one portion of the job so he walked off in a huff. His way or no way.
