We are happy to customize the scope of services as well; from Full Services to generating a "Builder's Set." That way you get only the Architectural Services you need or can afford. Most of our work is residential (New homes, additons & alterations, barns & outbuildings) & many clients need only those construction documents required to obtain a building permit (a "Builder's Set.")(they can pick their own countertop material, light fixtures, etcetera.) This saves the client a lot of money & we are happy to help out, on an hourly basis, when you do need the extra help. On the other hand if you want us to design everything, including the silverware, we are also happy to do so.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because ...After graduating, in the 70s, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting, I returned to west Texas to become the Desert Cezanne. My dream never became reality and I found myself working full time as a carpenter, framing houses and doing finish work (I learned carpentry, to make extra money, in college.) Eventually I became a dirty hands contractor doing kitchen and bathroom remodels but also some larger projects, including a fully passive solar home. I enjoyed my time as a contractor but got tired of building other peoples lousy designs. I thought I could do better than most of them. That was the impetus to return to college to get an Architectural degree. I still enjoy small projects like additions or interior remodeling as much as the larger projects. I enjoying working with folks who do not have unlimited budgets so need someone who can perform his job as inexpensively as possible while maintaining high quality standards of design and drafting. .

We are writing this letter to acknowledge the excellent design work, construction documents and permit assistance work by Mr Richard Pate, architect. We have known Mr. Pate for a number of years and have worked together on a few highly specialized projects. He has always been helpful in providing information and assistance both in the construction and design phases of these projects. Mr. Pate has handled all aspects of the work including design and construction documents, permits and has participated in appeal processes needed. Working with Richard has been a pleasure. His attention to detail helps the permit process to a speedier conclusion. Richard always conducts himself in a friendly and highly professional manner. Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
