James from Mr. Handyman was great to work with. He's a honest man and made sure he did the job right. He takes pride in his service. Highly recommend him.

Thanks for the 5-star review! Please let us know if you need any additional service.
My entire entire experience was a positive one.
I love your comment and thank you for all the 5 stars - next time we'll want to get that additional 1/2 star on the overall score! Something to shoot for!
Terry was great. He quickly made the repair and was very professional.
Thanks for your comments. I will be sure to share them with Terry at our next staff meeting.
Thanks for the 5 star rating. We are glad that you were pleased with our service and look forward to working with you again soon.
Came on time, told me what he would do and then took 3 hours to FINISH putting up a ceiling fan and changing out an outside light. Never got the fan finished. Cost a small fortune.
Very sorry that this customer was not pleased with the work, but some clarification is in order. The completion of the ceiling fan included removing a junction box and patching drywall. We installed cross bracing in the cabinet under her sink, which required removing the garbage disposal. Quality work takes time. The cost was $400.
Called company multiple times between visits with mild but growing concerns before giving up and calling bigger company to finish job. Our whole reason for going with a handyman service was because our requests were small and we didn't want to pay the cost of a more specialized company for simple work. But larger company finished and even had to correct some of the work, but he did it for fraction of what another visit from Mr. Handyman was likely to cost. And we were told by tech from larger company, that he knew of similar practices where the tech is encouraged to make excuses to drag out the work to up the overall cost on low cost jobs, otherwise, he couldn't explain why the work was so hard for even the most basic tech to complete. He also said companies sometimes only send their best techs to the jobs that will make them the most money. We went with Mr. Handyman because of all the positive reviews, but we ignored the negative ones, but after our experience, we read the negative reviews from another websites, in full and realized they sounded a lot like our experience. Shoddy work. Took too long. We also noticed the owner invites the dissatisfied customers to call him to resolve concerns, but many of those reviews aren't updated to let you know how the complaint was resolved by either the owner or the customer. Companies work very hard to ensure their positive reviews outweigh their negative ones to up their stars purely through weighted percentage, so be careful if you are only in the habit of looking at the overall company rating to make your decisions to hire people. Word of mouth is still the best bet.
Very sorry that this customer had a bad experience. I would like to research this job to better understand what happened and try to correct it, but with only a first name a city to go on, I have no way to look it up. In similar circumstances, I do indeed ask customers to call me. I do not have the opportunity to come back and update the review unless the customer does first (only one response per review is allowed by most of these websites). But if we do sub-par work, then we correct it. That's why we have so many positive reviews and so few negatives - we don't claim to be perfect, but we are honest and we are fair. As for the disparaging comments made by a competitor. Really? Sorry, but that bit of hearsay is inaccurate and lacks credibility. I do agree that word of mouth is the best way to choose a contractor. It's the biggest source of new customers for us.
