LaMar knows his lead abatement stuff. He is thorough and explains the process completely. Probably a good middle man and a person who knows lead testing (he is a licensed lead analyst), however, I think he took on too much when I asked him to paint the exterior of my building. LaMar explained the process but hired inefficient and bumbling contractors (probably someone who just needed work). The scaping was done haphazardly, and the painting was a nightmare. They began painting the siding with the trim color - had to cover it up and start over. The windows and some of the trim had siding color spayed on them, and when asked to remove did a sloppy job. Some of the siding had to be removed and replaced. Sloppy, gaping cuts and terrible install with large, roofing nails. Again, had to be removed and replaced, which I believe LaMar did himself. Initially the project was to take a couple of weeks and three months later it was completed. We were not totally pleased with the finished project and held some $$$ back until it was fixed and yet to be done. The nice thing that LaMar did was that he had the new paint tested and evaluated for lead, which passed the inspection. This was done at no cost to me. Thanks LaMar for that unexpected benefit. I was able to submit this report to BSEED (Detroit building department) and received full compliance for my rental duplex. I thought the process was a bit pricey, over what a painter would have cost; however, LaMar and Metropolitan Environmental had the credentials for lead abatement and control, the only company i could find that would do the complete job....yet still incomplete. He also wanted the money immediately but I held out paying him in portions - otherwise I would have had no recourse. I will say that even though LaMar hired shabby contracting workers, he did stay with the project. But I feel he did so because of the hold back in payments until certain phases were complete. If he is going to be in the full abatement business, he needs competent workers.

Our project was an emergency due to a leaking pipe in our 100+ year old home and plumbing repairs couldn't be done until the asbestos was removed. The company worked with our schedule including removing the asbestos from the entire area not just the leaking pipe. Area was cleaned after the job and we would definitely recommend!

By far, the most professional and thorough asbestos removal contractor I came across. Very happy with their work.

    5.0 Paul S. Detroit, MI

LaMar and the professionals from Metropolitan were excellent. They were very timely and thoroughly explained the scope and status of the work. They took the time to respond to my questions and then delivered on the expectations. I had originally hired another provider and changed to Metropolitan in the middle of the project. I highly recommend Metropolitan and LaMar for this work and greatly appreciate his efforts.
