My irrigation system stopped working. The guy that came out isolated it to the master value and quoted me $300 to rebuild it. I watched as he didnâ t rebuild anything, all he did was replace a $9 â solenoid, which is not much more than changing a light bulb. The whole job took 10 minutes of which 5 minutes was looking for the right solenoid on his truck. $300 for a $9 part and 5 minutes of labor. Used to be a time when people took pride in doing honest work for a fair price, not anymore.
