How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because In 2009 I decided to turn my business around, after running a small tile factory in Mexico and opening a store in the city of San Diego for 12 years, I notice the big demand on the field of construction. In 2009, I decided to obtain my tile and stone installation license C-53. After a short time I noticed the growing demand of exterior remodeling service. I decided to incorporate a new construction classification C-27 in order to offer a bigger home improve-ment service options . .

We started in this industry in 2009.

We hired Al and his team to do tile work on and around our pool and to build a very complicated deck. Not only did they do a fabulous job on those projects we subsequently hired him to do many additional projects in the yard! Al and his entire staff are very professional and pay great attention to detail. It seems it gets harder and harder to find someone who is honest, dependable and affordable and we feel very fortunate to have found Al. I can recommend him without reservation. A true craftsman!

Al and his crew were true craftsman and did an outstanding job on not one but 2 massive decks. They were reasonable with the price, showed up on time, completed the work with consultations with us, did great finishing details and were very pleasant to do business with. So much so that we have had them back to do other outdoor projects.

I received a referral for Lomeli Tile Designers from my pool company and I'm so happy I worked with them. Al and his team are consummate professionals, very communicative from beginning to end, show up on time, and everything else you could hope to have from a great contractor. Al and his team tore out and rebuilt my broken concrete patio with stone steps and an inlaid wood deck. He also did the tile for my pool itself. The work is FANTASTIC and I can't wait to hire him again for more work.

We got several estimates for installing porcelain pavers over our backyard patio and pathway. Al's quote was right in the middle, but his response was so much faster and professional: 3 days for the quote (other companies took 2 weeks to give us estimate) and he and his team finished the project within 10 days. They were here every day, he consulted and listened to what we wanted and did a great job. We're very happy with our new improved backyard!

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the state in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Businesses will not be admitted to the network if their owners or principals have the following felonies in their available criminal records*:

Arson

Assault/domestic violence/battery

Child abuse

Intimidation/terrorist threats

Kidnapping/abduction

Lewd and lascivious behavior

Manslaughter/murder/homicide/vehicular homicide

Rape/incest

Robbery/carjacking

Sex offenses

Other felonies not listed above that occurred in the past seven years

Contracting without a license in the past seven years

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened biennially.

How is COVID-19 impacting the HomeAdvisor background check program?

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, several government agencies and courts across the country have temporarily closed their offices. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities.
