I made the huge mistake of hiring Jeff Herrera, a.k.a. J-Tech Builders, to build a 2nd story Trex composite deck with stairs and a roof. He said it would be done in less than 6 weeks. 12 weeks later, he walked out on the job, taking my money with him. The framing of the deck is unfinished and not built according to code, the deck cover has not been started, and I have a yard full of material, much of which is damaged from improper storage. Almost all of the work that he did is going to have to be scrapped and re-done. He is dishonest, lazy, incompetent, and has no interest in doing quality work. I provided Jeff with detailed requirements in our contract, and he completely ignored them. I specified 45 degree angled deck corners and stairs that were 4 ft wide, with hand rails on both sides. He forgot to include the angled corners. He only allowed 3 ft for the stairs. And he decided on his own to not include one of the hand rails because he left no room for it. I asked for 6 x 6 pressure treated wood for the 9 ft deck supports and he got non-structural graded landscaping timber instead. He made large holes in the side of our house and left them exposed for water to enter and do more damage. I caught him dumping excavated concrete in the open space behind our house. Installing the concrete footings, he mixed up water and dry concrete inside the muddy holes that he dug, contaminating and weakening the concrete with dirt. When he built the stair landings, he just buried the support posts in concrete, another hack that any quality professional would never do, because the posts will eventually rot. If an installed board was too long, he would try to cut it in place and leave a jagged, crooked edge. If a board was too short or cracked, he would just slap another board on top of it and try to cover it up. He failed to follow the Trex framing specifications, resulting in what would have been nearly a foot of wasted deck space OUTSIDE of the railings. He started installing deck boards before the framing was done, and the deck surface is wavy and uneven, with visibly different height between adjacent boards. I finally told Jeff to stop work until the inspector came, hoping that would force him to actually fix things correctly before he could do more damage. I had to wait 3 weeks for Jeff to get the permit that he was supposed to have gotten before he started. Upon inspection, the main support beam – the one that all the joists sat on - was not built to code, nor were the 2 stair landings, in addition to multiple other code violations. Jeff lied and said his engineer approved the beam that way, and would provide us a letter to certify it. He then proceeded to do more shoddy work, ignoring the inspection items. He improperly installed posts under the beam that was not built to code. He attached stair stringers to the upper and lower landings that still needed to be rebuilt. I asked him, why would you attach stringers to a landing that needs to be rebuilt? Whe

Highly recommend Jeff and his team. Professional, courteous, and fast, Jeff and his guys did a great job rebuilding our second story deck and my Wife and I can;t wait to bring him back for other projects in the future. Good quality, good honest price, and solid craftsmanship - do yourself the favor and hire this company.

The sliding door repair was at my property in Denver but I reside in VA so there was concern for me (for whomever I chose to use) that they would either take my money and run or just do a poor job. Jeff did a excellent job communicating with me on the progress of the project. Jeff has kept me in the loop the whole time and, according to my tenant, has done an excellent job on the install. There were delays in getting the door in due to it being oversized (> 10' L) but he was on site the same day it was delivered. Not too mention his prices was way more reasonable than our property manager company offered and right in line with two other quotes I received. Finally, there was some trim work to be completed and again, due to delays because of the weather and scheduling, Jeff has refrained from billing me the balance of the work (basically all his labor and material charges except for the door) until he was compete with the work and I (an the tenant) are satisfied with the finished product. I will definitely recommend Jeff and his company!

Jeff did a superb job building our deck and did so at a cost much less than others had quoted. He was great to work with and I plan on having him work on our bath and kitchen remodels too! We couldn't be happier to have found him! Very highly recommended!

Strength is installing cabinets, hire a plumber or electrician for disconnecting and connection of dishwasher sink etc. Make sure your contact has the details of everything to be done so you both are on the same page.

He was efficient, did the work for almost two thirds the price of other installers so we saved money and got the job done. He was on time, quick to communicate and professional.
