How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because - Started LawnTender after pivoting on my plan to become a veterinarian leveraging my experience working as a lawn care technician for years. - Spend last year at CSU working toward veterinarian school (received all A with nearly all A+ over 98%) - Spend 8 years training to become a Navy Seal (high school through after college), shipped to boot camp in 2020. Medically disqualified for a non-waiverable eye condition they discovered, Keratoconus. - Bachelor's degree in management from Texas A&M class of 2019 (Sigma Cum Laude) - Have run 5 ultra-marathons ranging from 50-100 miles - Rode bicycle coast to coast, solo, on the Trans-American bicycle route (4113 miles after discharge from Navy).

Really enjoyed working with this company. It took a few visits, but the problem was detected and solved. We thought it was fixed and we’re leaving town and found water where it shouldn’t have been. Definitely a flaw in our system nothing to do with what the company did.Benjamin and Cody were amazing. Came out the same day spent most of the day working on it. Highly highly recommend this company!!

Benjamin is very knowledgeable. He's replaced and properly adjusted sprinkler heads, replaced valves in the box, helped program watering days/times. His organic fertilizer and other lawn treatments are top of the line. His company is dependable and honest. I have found his prices to be reasonable and he backs up his work. Great lawn company!

We are so thankful to have found LawnTender! I choose to work with small businesses for many reasons but the best is when I can be on the phone with the owner/expert themselves to get real answers then have THAT person be the one to execute the plan properly. This was our experience 100%. They helped bring a dry, weed covered yard back to life. They were the only company I spoke with to inform me of more sprinkler system options which was extremely helpful in our situation. Also, anytime we can choose to put less chemicals into our earth and home-let’s do that!! Benjamin and Lauren have been so patient, responsive and great to work with. Highly recommend!

LawnTender is awesome and made the whole process easy! I submitted a request, they texted me a more than fair quote, and were out the next week to perform services. They took care of what I needed for less than I could have rented the equipment myself! Professional, polite, and fast, if you need good lawn care look no further, these guys do business right!

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
