Reviews
Write a ReviewI hired them last year, but I guess I never submitted my review, since I got a reminder from HA :-). Really happy with the job they did! One year later enjoying my beautiful deck! Very professional work!
John was the most reliable, open, honest contractor/builder I've worked with in a longtime. Very professional, kept his word, finished the job as promised. John replaced 2 entrance way staircases to my house and at the same time I had some HVAC work done. My HVAC guy is an old professional, having worked on new and old houses. He commented that it was one of the nicest construction jobs he'd seen and "that those stairs ain't going nowhere - they'll be there for another hundred years"... thought that was a pretty good endorsement!
John is professional, courteous and reasonable. His work is dependable and he is helpful and honest
Great quality work and follow-up. I highly recommend!!!
When the roof in our Princeton home sprung 2 leaks, just as we were preparing to leave town, we called several area roofers. We chose John's JKCustom Building because of his responsiveness and fair pricing, plus the positive reviews online. Now my husband and I will add our review to the others. The roof was completely replaced in 2 days, the quality of the work appears to be first rate (I'm not a roofer, but that's my opinion), the crew was pleasant, professional , and very hardworking, and everything was completely cleaned up each day when they left. I checked for leaks 2 days ago because there was a heavy rain while we were out of town and there was no sign of any leak. More importantly, the owner of the company, John K., is clearly knowledgeable and responsive to all concerns. He is honest as well. I asked him about another potential project and he told me it was unnecessary at this time, and he explained why. Absolutely no patronizing attitude because I am a woman. We will definitely use him in the future when the need arises, as it inevitably will. Jane R. Altman, Princeton, NJ
John and his crew were amazing to work with. Long job but very clean and always open to us. Always had good ideas and was super friendly with our changes and questions. We would not consider another contractor with any other projects now. Pricing is fair, open and honest. No hidden costs.
I typically don't write reviews on products or services that I receive. You would be lucky to find one or two reviews from my hundred of Amazon orders or Uber rides. However, I recently had my basement finished and I cannot calculate the number of hours I put in trying to find the perfect contractor to finish my basement. Every person and project are different, so the least I can do is share my experience and hopefully save the next home owner 40+ hours of their lives in research. During my initial search I went through Home Advisor, Google, AngelList, Craigslist, the local township website, and every possible resource I could find on the internet looking for "The One". The core items I was looking for were licensed, specialization, flexible payments, honest, and someone who could complete the work in an allocated amount of time. For each of the potential contractors that fix the bill, I would invite them to the house, show them the basement and attempt to determine if they were honest and personable. To me, if someone is going to be in your house for weeks on in, I want to be able to hold a conversation with them and trust that they wouldn't venture throughout my house while I was away. Each of the contractors I brought over was missing at least one of my desired factors till I met John for JK General Contracting. John was very open on schedules, pricing and also on the same page that he wanted me to be comfortable with his guys since they were going to be sending quite a bit of time in the house. In addition to this, John also stated that he has a specialist for each of the items that were to be performed in the basement (e.g., drywall, painters, plumbers, electricians, etc.). it did seem a bit too good to be true and decided to a do a bit more research which led me to his website. The pictures of his work seemed promising; however, I always question if the pictures on these sites are actual legitimate pictures. Needless to say, I went out on a whim and hired JK General Contracting. My project has officially completed today (as I write this well-deserved review) and I honestly could not be more pleased. Not only did John, Brandon and team live up to expectations, they far exceeded my expectations with communication, design, and just overall simplicity. I took pictures throughout the project to show family and friends and I will be sharing them with John (hopefully he will upload them to his site to really showcase his work). John would call me every week providing updates on what is to expect the following week. He also worked seamlessly with me when I wanted to make last minute changes to the project. I have honestly had a pain free experience with JK General Contracting and would hire them several times over for any project I may have. I do know that this was a VERY long-winded review; however, as I mentioned earlier, if this review can save others hours of time trying to find a contractor with similar needs to mine, then it was worth it. I am a real person, with now a "real nice basement" and willing to vouch that company is top tier. I plan to post this review in the key places that I went to search for a contractor as I hope to help someone out and hopefully, they can have a finished product similar to mine. -Jose
John was extremely professional. I found that his communication with me from the very first contact to the end of the project was above and beyond what I've experienced with any other contractor. He works with his crew - he is not an absentee owner. The gentlemen on the crew were respectable and very hard working. The quality is excellent! I definitely have John and his team in my favorites!
This company is very professional. I especially appreciate how respective they were of my home and that they cleaned all the debris. I would hire them again for future projects.
We hired JK Custom Building to demo our 1950's finished basement, bathroom and replace our basement windows. This was a project which we had been putting off for years. In the end we were amazed how quickly the job was completed and are very happy with the results. JK Builders is a professionally run company that is dedicated to delivering complete customer satisfaction. We would highly recommend them to anyone.
