I hired the Angi contractor based on his estimate provided on the expectation that the work would be completed in a professional quality manner. I scheduled the work to be completed on Tuesday, March 18th. I met with the contractor @ 7am to go over the project directly and it was understood regarding the scope. I received no updates from the contractor and arrived home from my office @ 5pm and was provided an update on the completion of the project at that time. All three areas of the project were incomplete as he was still working on the project. I briefly reviewed what was done and mentioned that the reattached section in front wasn't horizontally level with the adjoining panels. He continued to work on the project until nearly dark. The gate planks that were installed were much too high and he said that was the way they were previously until he looked at the picture he took at the beginning of the project. He resolved the issue and continued to finish up the project until dark. We reviewed the project together and I told him without light that I couldn't really assess the work that was done and he agreed that I could let him know the next day regarding any concerns and he was paid in full by check for the project. This was on the premise that these issues would be rectified after assessment the following day. I reviewed the project with my wife the following day and even though I wasn't happy with the lack of level with the other panel in the back, I was willing to accept as is but there were two issues I needed resolved in lieu of payment. I called the contractor to let him know that I needed the two issues resolved. The issues were one of the panels that were reattached in front was far from horizontally level and there was a 1" diameter hole in one of the boards installed on the rebuilt gate. The gate hit the post after installation and I even agreed to do the sanding on the installed gate on my own to make the gate work as it should. The contractor told me that I received the quality of work that I paid for and he wouldn't be back out to resolve the two issues. This leaves me very unsatisfied with the quality of work and the professionalism of this contractor. He was very defensive on the phone when I made the follow up call to have the two issues rectified. I sent him pictures as he requested the following day and he has made no attempt to rectify the situation. When I hired this contractor through Angi I expected quality work and professsionalism in exchange for compensation from this contractor and for the most part received neither, I am very dissatisfied on how this Angi contractor worked out for my project and hope Angi can help on getting positive resolution in this matter. Thanks.
Response from Company:
To the customer, we are sorry to hear that you were not happy with the work that was completed for you. but to whom it may concern, the story that is being told here is just not true. I arrived at the customers home at about 7 A.M. we met and talked over the job for a second time, and when we got done going over the project, we shook hands right before he left for work. afterwards I got to working on the project immediately. everything went very smoothly for the next x amount of hours. after being there for almost 10 hours the customer returned home from work, he had a few critiques on what had been finished by that time, which I have no problem with. The way I run my company is to always make sure the customer is more than happy with the finished product. after another 2 hours or so, I finished the job at about 6:15 P.M. I had the customer, come out and take a look at the finished product. he asked for a few very minor correction and I proceeded to do them promptly as he was still outside. the job was completely finished by 6:30 P.M. still almost full day light outside. he looked around and said that everything looked great and thanked me for all my hard work. After that I cleaned up and went to the door for payment, he paid me in full, we shook hands and I turned around to go on my way. right after I turned my back he very randomly told me that he was "going to take a closer look around the place tomorrow" which I thought was very odd because we had just done a very detailed walk through just a few minutes prior. I nodded in confusion and just said okay. the next day he asked for a paid in full invoice and I sent it to him promptly. he said thank you and I thought that was going to be the last of this project. as another day passed, he then texted me 3 different complaints and requested that I need to get them done as soon as possible. I let the customer Know in a very professional way that the problems he submitted to me were in no way fixable as cedar boards naturally have knot holes in them, and as for the fencing, it is just part of repairing an already very aged fence with Brand new materials. after I sent the text he then took the situation from 0 to 100. When he told me that he works in law and that he will take this a far as it needs to go for thing to be made right. The customer then began to ask me very odd direct questions on if I'm even licensed, (which I am fully licensed, Bonded, and Insured.) and from what I could tell from the customers tone and attitude he was looking for nothing more than to just to frighten me into a refund. after I could see what was going on, I told the customer that "do to what he was looking to have made right with the project, there is nothing more that I could do for him". and that was the last of our conversation. The customer never got the law involved and he never went beyond just this review. so again I am sorry to hear that the customer was not pleased with the work, but I believe that all the customer was looking for was financial compensation. Sincerely, Owner, Jesse.

Jesse is an incredibly hard worker. He removed around 1000sq ft of blackberry bushes, which uncovered lots of junk left over from previous homeowners. He was generous enough to remove the junk along with the bushes, cleaning up our yard to make it safe for the kids to play.
