After two appointments, we went to contract with this company. The price seemed very reasonable and we were given some options which we thought were great. We left a $2,000 check deposit and we're told the following week someone would call us to come do the final measurements and that the windows could take 16 to 18 weeks but we were not in a hurry and we're willing to wait. The week went by and we heard from no one so I called the two people that had come out. One did not call me back, the other one I got on the phone. He was surprised that no one had come to measure and thought it had been done so that means that they were still working and coming out and taking measurements for people. He said he was going to look to see what happened and we get back to me. My phone rang and I was busy my husband answered, some other guy named George told my husband a bunch of blarney, one story after another. One story was that they can't get the material to make the resin. The second story was this would take 18 weeks or longer. (We already knew that even though he didn't) the company was going to change ownership within a week or two. Today's date is January 21. Let's see if that really happens. And the list kind of goes on. So he tells my husband he's going to return our deposit. And he also said it was a problem with the contractor that they were going to be using a different contractor but they don't have a contract with that person yet. It just started to sound really weird after a while. A bunch of BS. So my husband said so what are you abandoning this project completely? And George said pretty much "yes" and we'll make sure to get the check out to you immediately. My husband was baffled. He told George he didn't understand what was going on. At that point I called David and left him a message but of course I didn't get a call back, at least not yet. They must have known a week ago that they were selling their company. The only thing I can think of is when you're selling your company and you show the person you're selling it what upcoming sales you have, that the new company may not want to honor those contracts, and if that's the case then you have no contract. And apparently the contract is the type where the homeowner accepts the terms and signs it, the company does not. Regardless of all that, Honest Abe is not that honest. We're still not very sure about what the reason is for this cancellation. I don't believe anything George told my husband because he was saying different things as he went along. Maybe it's all about they decided to charge more money and felt that the profit wasn't there for them? I felt that they charged a fair price. A reasonable fair price. We had gotten quotes that were much higher and we didn't accept them. There are a lot of price gougers in this business apparently and they can just pretty much name their price. I don't need Windows that badly but that's not the way to do business. Unless they really tell me what's going on and make good on their contract, I am not willing to change my review. And I can't really rate them any better than I did because they have not done their due diligence as far as I'm concerned.
