Handyman Connection of Silver Spring

Unfortunately had a very poor experience with Handyman Connection, it is the contractor. What was supposed to be a 1-day project turned into a 7-week disaster? The contractor they used had such a poor attitude the entire time, made mistake after mistake, and tried to take too many shortcuts that resulted in extremely poor quality of work that continually needed to be redone. The contractor kept talking about how poor the company was and specifically used many vulgarities in describing the owner of the company as well. After attempting to deal with the owner, I can see where the contractor was coming from. Once the problems started, I attempted to contact the owner on multiple occasions. Was told they would always call me back - never did once, despite knowing there were problems. Then, when collecting payment after this nightmare project was over, the owner finally tried to talk to me right on the way out as the contractor was several hours late and would not move their vehicle out of the way for me to leave. I told the owner I did not have time to talk to them at that moment, and then got a grow-up email from the owner later that night (amazingly unprofessional), simply because I did not have time to *finally* talk to them at that exact moment after they *never* returned any of my messages over the last several weeks. On top of that, they tried to bill me for work that was part of the signed scope. Lesson learned - will never hire a company that simply outsources the work to independent contractors. Too risky, and quite frankly they do not care when things go wrong. They will say Well I could have just left the job. Again, crazy and unprofessional.

John Anderson, HC's concrete craftsman, was exceptional. He is extremely professional and thorough, and his work is outstanding.

Nathaniel called a few minutes before his arrival to let me know he is approaching my home. He performed the work as expected. He is polite and a total professional. Their office does a good job at staying in contact and providing information. I hired them for a second job. It was also done nicely. Waiting for a quote for a third job I am thinking about hiring them to do it.

The carpenter was thorough.

Through Handyman Connections I had large storage cabinets and shelves built (by a cabinetmaker), installed (by carpenters), and painted (by a painter) at one end of my rec room. Everything was perfect, to my specifications, and done at a reasonable cost and in a timely manner. This was a big job, and I am completely thrilled with the results. In two previous jobs I have had a ceiling repaired and new light fixture installed in a downstairs bathroom after an emergency plumber fixed a leak from the upstairs bathroom, and work done on my front door which included replacing the screen/storm door and painting the wood front door. Both of those jobs were also 100% perfect. I am planning an extensive remake of changing the old utility room into a new mud and laundry room, and will be using Handyman Connections for all those tasks. I recommend them without reservation.

The Handyman, Herbert, was prompt and completed his job in a timely and efficient manor.Yvonn
