I hired Green Tree to install a curtain drain and do some minor grading for my backyard and side yards in order to address issues related to standing water in my yard. If I could review them for just the curtain drain, I would say they did a decent job. However, there were several items during the project that were deficient. First, the customer service and communication were really bad. I understand that there has been a hard time finding reliable workers in the industry, but the project was pushed back several times without any notice. I had to continue following up with them not only to begin the project but to also finish the project. Trying to get a hold of someone to provide a straight answer for when they would actually come to do the work I hired them for (or to finish the job) was painstaking. The project not only took multiple days to complete, but I had to continue following up with them on a week-to-week basis to make sure they were coming to finish the job. Second, the grading work was not well done. They drove machinery through my front yard, side yard, and backyard in order to install the curtain drain but when they top dressed afterwards, there were still ruts from the machinery left in the front yard, side yard, and backyard, which obviously messed up the grading. When I asked them to come back and fix the ruts, they top dressed some more but only in the side yard, and it only made it even and no longer pitched away from my house. The front yard still had ruts in it from the machinery that I had to fix myself. Third, the reseeding was very poorly done. As I mentioned previously, I had to follow up with Green Tree several times to make sure they would come back to finish the job. When they first reseeded the yards, they told me that they had run out of straw and seed and would come back the next day to bring more. I had to follow up multiple times about this before they came back. The seeding and mulching with straw was very inconsistent. In some sections, the straw was overly thick and actually prevented the seed from growing, and in other sections, they completely missed putting down straw. I had to reseed many sections, and in fact the portions I reseeded ended up looking better. Not sure if it was their seed, mulch, or top dressing, but wherever I did not reseed had more weeds than grass. Overall, what I will say is that they offered competitive pricing and they did an okay job with installing the curtain drain. But everything else was severely deficient. They did end up crediting back some money for what they failed to do, but frankly, I would not hire them to do another job because of the entire experience.

Josh was attentive via e-mail and phone calls to assure the work was done. Was disappointed in the clean up, as I ran over leftover wood chips with the lawnmower many times before I decided to get out a rake to finish the job. Also left sandwich bags and half empty Gatoraid container near the work site for me to dispose of. Left an invoice in my mailbox and a sign in my yard. Paid them promptly to later receive another invoice with the tax still to be paid. Poor business practice from my point of view.

While an apology will regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience on this occasion, I do extend it with all sincerity. Our goal is always to leave our customers yard in excellent condition. We do try to clean up as much wood chips as possible as it is a difficult task due to the stump grinding process itself. We have added some protective shields we are now using to help the cleanup process be more effective. I sincerely apologies if there were any misunderstanding or confusion about the sales tax on your bill. When you had sent in your payment you had not included the sales tax. The second bill that was sent was for the remaining balance due which was just for the sales tax. I have added a note in our system if you gave us the opportunity to work for you in the future we would be happy to give you a discount for a future project.
