Reviews
Write a ReviewPhenomenal service, thoughtful design, great quality work, and an affordable price - I cannot recommend DWN highly enough! The backyard of my rowhome had been a 'work in progress' for years: overgrown with weeds, improperly sloped so water pooled in heavy rains, and bamboo had escaped from an old bed to thread itself all over the place. When the pandemic forced me and my fiance to choose a home wedding, I was frantic to find a company who would take on a smaller project with a tight timeline and some specific materials requirements. DWN to the rescue! Carmen spent an hour with me for the consult, expertly analyzing the full situation of my backyard and suggesting some transformative improvements that other vendors missed. DWN was able to schedule the job just in the nick of time for our wedding date, and the team was so professional, friendly, and FAST! They consulted with me at every step while onsite, to make sure that any minor tweaks were still in line with my needs and wants. Most touching, they went out of their way to deliver a beautiful mum plant the day before our wedding with a sweet card of good wishes. DWN really takes a holistic, 'design thinking' approach, and they care about their customers. 1,000,000/10 would use again!

(Design With Nature was an amazing company to work with. The communication from the beginning put me at ease as this was my first major home renovation project. Diane Greg and Carmen were all so knowledgeable and helpful in getting our backyard exactly how we wanted it. I cannot recommend this company enough for any backyard or outdoor landscaping or hardscaping you may need. Our backyard is now our favorite part of our home. Thank you again Design With Nature!!
I can not praise this company enough. The horticulturist that I worked with was right on the mark! The workers are excellent and the whole experience was great! To work on a big hill is a challenge and they handled it well! Joan O, Balto., MD.
Best price, very accommodating to my schedule, friendly and punctual service. They're my first choice for lawn and landscaping service.
Great employees, great work, price was reasonable for the amount of work done, cleaned up whole yard after the completion of job each day. I would recommend to family and friends.
I was left grossly dissatisfied with their service. Mine was a small project of spring cleaning, tree and flower bed spading/edging, removing old tree supporting stakes, straightening leaning trees. So, the following are things that one should expect from this company - 1. They are not good communicators. The turn-around time between the request and reply may take up to two weeks. 2. They will not give you an itemized bill. The whole work will be lumped up into an invoice with one total line, which leaves you guessing how much are you paying for what. 3. I have 9 fruit trees, and I was told from the get-go that they don't take care of the fruit trees. Which surprised me - how come the company advertising among others its gardening services, does not take care of the fruit trees? 4. The spading/edging work was not done properly done. I can submit photos showing how it should be done and how it was done on the property. 5. The straightening of the leaning trees was not properly done, I can show that on the photos. Stakes can be used to support the young saplings, but leaning 4 years-old trees require different type of devices to straighten them out. Overall, the delivered service was not worth money I was charged. Maybe they do have expertise in deck, concrete and stone works, as one can see from the number of positive reviews, but definitely not in tree/plants maintenance and gardening.
We are professional arborists and horticulturists and are very good at what we do. We strive to make our customers happy. But every now and then we are unable to strike a balance between giving good horticultural advice and pleasing a customer. This customer was residing out of state and wanted us to be proactive on his landscaping needs stating, "You should be my eyes on the property in everything that relates to plants and trees" but yet would not take advantage of our monthly maintenance plan. It is difficult to meet those expectations when providing a one-time only spring clean-up and mulching. He continues to confuse our work with work that was done by previous landscapers and as he was not there to verify that we did indeed fertilize the plants and use a pre-emergent herbicide, etc., etc., (work that needs time to pass to become evident) he questioned whether or not we did the work. We realized that trying to service a long-distance client created an untenable situation that we could not continue. Lesson learned.
The staff were all great- friendly and very accommodating.
Design by Nature installed a natural playground for my child's school ( I was the school project manager). The project included grading and installing rock walls, a rain garden, an outdoor classroom with salvaged log seats, and native plantings. It was a PTO sponsored project, and they were great from start to finish. I would recommend this company to anyone, whether you need landscaping for you, your home, school, or business. They are a pleasure to work with and their results are wonderful.
I've never used a landscaper before but they were right on the ball. My job had a tight time line and they fit me in without any problems. Carmen was great with her design and working with me. The crew did a good job and were very pleasant. I will definitely use again.
