So far the experience has been very pleasant. All the workers were so nice and the concrete looks amazing aside from a few current issues of my walkway hopefully to being resolved. I need to get some dirt to fill in around the concrete but would highly recommend them in the future.

We hired Hastings and Sons because when I submitted an inquiry on three Angi app Hastings called us right away and made an appointment to come out and look at our crumbling driveway and our patio that we wanted added onto. Adam came out and was very professional, likeable, and all around good salesman. We decided to go with Hastings because we liked Adam and their pricing seemed the best from the quotes we received. They got us scheduled in a very timely matter and were even able to start our project early. On the day they arrived we were told ahead of time that someone would need to be at the house for just about an hour to make sure that everyone is on the same page. They arrived on time and the owner of the company, Shawn, was going to be the foreman of our project. The first thing he asked was what are we doing here ? That surprised me because it didn t instill in me any confidence that this guy understood what our project involved at all. After we went over it he told me that they would get some things laid out and that he would come and get me in an hour or so to make sure everything was laid out correctly. He never did. I ended up taking an entire day off of work that I wasn t planning on doing waiting around for him to have me approve the layout. At the end of the first day our yard was completely torn up, but I understand that is part of the construction process. What I wasn t ok with was the trash, fast food bags, cups, half eaten bags of Doritos and just plain liter they left laying around our yard. We sent a message asking that they please clean up their trash each day and Shawn informed us that it s just part of the construction process . I understand construction debris, but not the workers leftover lunch debris. Day two they were back and Shawn was on and off the property. We were not impressed by the foul language they were using especially considering our neighbors have very young children that were out playing in their yard. Finally the concrete was poured and it looked great! We were excited. However, the yard was still a mess and they were not going to bring in any topsoil to fix the holes left in the yard until my husband said something about it. The owner said he could get some soil if we paid for it directly and threw in another $100 for his guys to spread it around. Our project cost $17,400. And Adam had told us that there would be enough soil leftover from excavation to fill in areas. Shawn said that he wanted us to be happy and so he got two truck loads of soil and the spread it around. It looked good. He informed us that some of his guys would be back at 7pm to cut the expansion joints and at this time they were supposed to clean off the concrete splatter from our foundation. I questioned Shawn if the concrete would be dry enough to make cuts and he assured me it would be fine. The guys came and left and everything looked good. We noticed the next day that he took out a chip the patio with his saw, and that there were markings all over both the patio and driveway near the foundation. Also, the splatter on the foundation was only smeared now after their poor attempt to clean it off. We called Adam and he said the guys would come out to correct the markings in the concrete and clean up the foundation. They came on Saturday unannounced, good thing I was home to show them my concerns, and attempted another cleaning. The foundation still has smear marks on it and the product they used doesn t dry to match the original concrete. So now we have a brand new patio that looks like a child smeared clay randomly on it. When we contacted Adam with our complaint he said that it didn t look like there was anything wrong with it, and that it would just take time to bleach out. No one told us ahead of time that this patch material wouldn t match the original concrete. Adam also told us that we were being unprofessional for complaining about their sloppy work.

Customer Satisfaction We had them add an addition to our patio and pour cement around our fire pit. They did a lousy job on both. The contractors they hired said they had 35 years experience. He told us he could take the machine through our gate but when they got here they said they could not get the smaller equipment so they took our fence down and tore our yard to pieces. The contractors fought the whole time (I was told they have been fired), and after they completed the patios, the water lay in puddles on both our patio and the fire pit area. We called them out to look at it. The guy over the project came out and looked at it and said that it definitely was not poured correctly and that it was not poured to allow the water to run off. We also showed him the cement that they put all over our brick and our siding. He said they would come out and clean up the cement, and he would talk to his boss about the bad job they did. He calls the next day and said his boss said there was not anything they could go about the lousy work they did. When we told him we did not want to give them the remainder of the money until they fixed the problem they said they would put a lien on our home and come out and dig the patio back up then we would be out the huge deposit we already put down so we paid them. I have called them at least 10 times, probably more, and every time they tell me the same thing: that they will be out to fix it and clean up the mess. They even go as far as to schedule a time to come out three or four times but then never show up. When I call them back, they come up with all kinds of excuses as to why they could not come. One lie after another It has been almost a year, and they are still promising they will put us in for the warranty to come fix it. I would highly recommend you not do business with this company. I could go on and on about the lies we were told. This statement on their web page is a big joke. Our team is consistent and provides high-standard service, quality, personal attention, and integrity to our clients. We are dedicated to superior customer service and craftsmanship. So be it renovation or new construction, the effort put in and the quality delivered will remain equally perfect.

I contacted Hastings and Sons. Mason came out and I showed him what I wanted done, which was to have an existing old patio slab removed and a new one extended out, along with a front sidewalk from the driveway to the porch. He explained everything to me in detail. He was very nice, and knowledgeable. His crew came out on a Saturday and started removing the old concrete slab. Their digger broke so they had to go get parts to fix it. They returned on Monday and finished. Mason came out and inspected their work. I was very pleased with the work they did! The patio and sidewalk look great!!! I’ve gotten so many compliments on it. The first time we had a heavy rain I noticed in one area of the patio water was pooling and running towards the basement window and foundation. I sent Mason a txt with pictures. He promptly came out and looked at it. The next day the head crew guy came out and said they would wait until the rest of the concrete properly cured then they would scrape that one section and redo it. I’m very pleased with this company and the work they do. I would recommend them to family and friends. As a matter of fact I’ve already told one of my friends about them. I won’t hesitate to use them again when my driveway needs replaced. They do good work for a reasonable price!

Terrific job on the patio and knocking down a very awkward wall that was up previously. It opens up our area so much and will be very enjoyable heading into Summer!
